Product Overview
VEAM’s retention clip
provides secure retention of
the contact in the insulator.
In addition, through use of a
specially designed tool, the
contact is easily removed for
harnessing.
The rubber coupling but design
provides double insulation.
The thermoplastic rigid insert
material meets all the latest
railway industry smoke and
flame retardant standards.
Our multipoint band technology
provides 360 degrees of EMI
shielding to ensure the integrity
of the signal.
The innovative contact
technology enables data bus
signals to be interconnected
in one operation
8 Poles inspectable and
repairable contacts are designed
to meet the requirements of
Class F (cat 7-600Mhz) according
to ISO/IEC 11801
CIR-M12 is IP67 rated in the
mated position. The components are completely immune
to shock and vibration and
therefore ideal for harsh train
and mass transit environments.
M12 test results shows highly
reliable and stable connections
with very low distortion & no
signal loss.

The challenge
VEAM M12 Connectors at a Glance
As railway technology and safety standard advance, so
must the electronics supporting applications like engine
diagnostics, brake controls, environmental conditioning,
passenger display systems, networking and lighting
control. This coupled with the increasing demand for
data grouping and through-put is why ITT VEAM was
approached with this challenge.
The customer requested an interconnect solutions to
establish reliable connection between coaches. In particular, these solution for data transmission must bundled multiple Ethernet, WTB and MVB lines into a singular connector while meeting all required regulations.

Features & Benefits
The solution
Listening to our customer requests, ITT VEAM met the
challenge by developing the CIR-M12 Series. This series is
a combination of M12 contacts mounted into FRCIR
connector series hardware. With this pioneering design,
four conductor wires and the associated braid from
shielded cables are integrated into the M12 contact. A
special plastic insert groups multiple M12 contacts
and their cables into a singular connector.
With this solution, the customer may now transfer
local data from Ethernet, MVB, WTB, and Video
lines, according to VG95234, within the same
connector.
