The entire gospel can be summed up in the words of Jesus, “The time has come and the Kingdom of God is near. The altar server is given a divine privilege, above all earthy honors, in being permitted to serve within the sanctuary at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, at which the Church gives to God, officially and in the name of all, the worship that is due to Him alone. If your child is a rising 4th grader or older, they may want to consider the ministry of Altar Serving. We are now welcoming those interested in being a new altar server. Candidates to be an altar server must be a faithful Catholic who has completed 3rd grade (but we can begin training as they are approaching completion of 3rd grade). Training sessions will begin this summer. To review the duties of an altar server, a training manual used for instruction is available for your information on the parish website at http://www.stmgaparish.org. It is recommended to be reviewed before a training session but not required. The Missionaries of the Poor in Kingston, Jamaica, provide refuge for over 400 Jamaicans of all ages. About 100 of these are handicapped children. Most cannot walk and many cannot even sit up. For these children, their crib is their world. Can you help make that world a little better? About 25 of the mattresses are cracked, ripped and very unhygienic. We are negotiating a discount with a local store to reduce the regular price of $100 per mattress. The store will be able to ship the mattresses to the Missionaries warehouse in Chamblee and they can be included in the next container of food shipped to the Missionaries in Jamaica. Someone will be in the narthex after Mass on June 7, 8, 14 and 15 to answer questions and to accept donations. All donations and prayers are welcome. Checks should be made payable to Missionaries of the Poor. Prayers should go directly to Jesus Christ. Thank You!!
