Garlic Festival Update
Submitted by Jean Pfeiffer
Edited by Sam Howell
The Garlic Festival, now in its 17th year, promotes the produce and crafts of the greater Tonasket area. Funded
in part by the Washington Tourism Council, it draws vacationers and locals together to experience some local
flavor and just have a good time.
As you know, we were disappointed to have to cancel the 2015 Garlic Festival, just days before the event was to
begin, due to the wildfires that were ravaging our county. We want to take this opportunity to thank the local
businesses who made sponsoring donations, the volunteers, and the vendors who prepared for the event that
didn’t happen.
Garlic grows very well in our climate and soils, and some exceptional varieties of garlic have been developed and
promoted by local gardeners and farmers. Garlic is so universally loved it is an enduring theme for our latesummer festival. Be sure to check out the garlic classes being offered at the Festival (growing, braiding,
cooking) and enjoy the garlic products offered by vendors.
CCC Members: Volunteers are needed for some tasks.
The Garlic Festival in the biggest event of the year and members need to pitch in to make it another big success.
Still needed are volunteers to:
 Take shifts running
o Beer/wine garden,
o CCC booth,
o Dunk tank,
o Buffalo’s food concession;
 Bake things for the dessert walk and to
sell at the CCC booth; and
 Help with advertising, such as putting
directional signs around town on the
event days.
Please contact Jean Pfeiffer 486-0617, or stop by the CCC on Tuesday or Thursday!

Tonasket Community Theater Update
Submitted by Sarah Kaiser
The work chosen for this year’s production is One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey. Due to popular
demand the show dates have expanded to include a second weekend. Performance dates are now set for Nov
10, 11, 12, 13, 19, and 20.
The cast members so far are: Dayton Edmonds, Doug Leese, Mike Lynch, Alex Eppel, Trevor Rise, Dan Gratrix,
Rob Thompson, Scott Olson, Ken VanderStoep, Will Hughes, Nathan Cardenas, Marile Kunkel, Samantha
Rabenold, Jerusha Mintzer, Lisa Lindsay.
Stage direction is by Sarah Kaiser assisted by Doug Leese with special effects
by Mike Oberg and Eric Meehan.
We need assistance with sets, costumes, promotion, lighting, props and
more. Get involved by leaving your name with the front office at CCC, and
they will pass that on to Sarah.
This is one of the largest ongoing sources of funds for the CCC. As always,
we will be offering individuals and businesses the opportunity to become a
sponsor of the production. If you would like to be a sponsor on any level,
please call the CCC office for details.
