Running Club began this morning and will be held each Tuesday and
Thursday this term at 8.30am beginning at the front gate. Everyone is welcome—parents included.

Active April, it’s not too late to join. At assembly there were a lot of
students who indicated they had been very active during the holidays. We
need them to join our MVPS Active April team so that we get those hours and
minutes added to our team score.
If you’d like to join please go to the Active April Website to register .

The Lightening Premiership for the grade 5/6s which was postponed last term is
on this Friday and parents are welcome to come along to support our school.
Basketball – Waverley Basketball stadium
Softball – Princes Park
Cricket – Darling Park
All competitions start at 10 and finish at 2.

The Annual Fun Run is coming up on Thursday 28th April
(see other term dates on page 2)
Special Religious Instruction (SRI) will not be offered at MVPS.
After reviewing the responses to the offering of SRI at Malvern Valley, the decision has
been made that it is not viable to run an SRI program at this time. The number of students wanting the program is small and they are spread over the three time options,
across the school and between Approved and Catholic.
Congratulations to Neveah (1/2K) and her family on the birth of their baby girl yesterday.
Welcome back everyone, have a great term.

Nude Food:
We will be doing our Nude Food Count on a Tuesday and Thursday.
Nude Food helps the students think of the environment and the impact rubbish has on it.
The class with the least amount of packaging get to have the CARROT mascot for the week.
Mindfulness:
Cherish yesterday
Dream tomorrow
Live today
During Malvern Valley Way this term we are still building our
PERSONAL POWER and we will be doing this through
Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is linked to mental wellbeing which is an important part of Personal Power.
How often do we become anxious about the mistakes we have made or things that have happened in the past?
How often do we worry about things that might happen in the future?
To manage this anxiety and worry an important strategy is to learn to be in the present.
Yes we do need to

Cherish yesterday as we can learn so much from the past to help with the future.

Dream tomorrow as that is where we see innovation, creativity, achievement
However Live today is equally important especially in our time when we are bombarded with so much stimulation all
the time. The statistics say that 1 in 24 children are experiencing a mental wellbeing issue—often anxiety so it is important for us to help them develop strategies to use when they are feeling overwhelmed by the past or the future.
Often we read about people having a sea or rural change, even a digital switch off time to help manage this bombardment. (I think that there are families in our community practising something similar when on holidays). We won’t be
going that far but we will be learning other techniques that we can practise where ever we are at any time. A well
known strategies is taking some deep breathes and breathing out sharply.
