Accelerated Geometry – this course is intended for students who passed Algebra I as 9th graders who
want to enroll in pre-AP Algebra II in 10th grade with an ultimate goal of taking AP Calculus and/or AP
Statistics during high school. Students must enroll in both semesters.
The class will meet from 7:00 a.m. – 2:55 p.m. daily with a working lunch. Please note: Accelerated
Geometry is not weighted as a pre-AP or AP course.
High School Virtual School Acceleration Courses
Virtual School classes are online classes that allow students to be flexible regarding when they work on
the course content. These classes are not self-paced classes because a student may be penalized if he/she
does not maintain a pace to complete the course in the designated timeframe. However, students may
work ahead in the course and possibly complete the course before the designated end-date.
Virtual School classes are available to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Because students can
access these classes 24/7, physical attendance on campus will only be required for Mid-Term and Final
exams UNLESS a student does not maintain a satisfactory pace in the course. IF a student falls behind
the satisfactory pace of a course, he/she will be required to attend summer school at Summit HS until a
satisfactory pace is obtained.
Satisfactory pace is the daily pace required to complete the course by the designated end-date. Example:
If the course is scheduled for 42 calendar days (6 weeks), then a student must complete 2.4% per day in
order to complete the course on time. Pace is determined by a 7-day week and not the 4-day week for
summer school.
