Grading Homework Quizzes Midterm Exams Final Exam 20% 10% 40% 30% Homework, Quizzes, and Exams Homework will be assigned on Monday and is to be handed in on the following Monday’s lecture unless otherwise indicated. If you forget to bring your homework to class when it is due, you may scan and e-mail it to me by midnight. Do not put it under my office door. Your lowest homework score will be dropped. The reason for this policy is to give you a cushion if an emergency arises and you cannot complete an assignment. Quizzes will be given weekly in your recitation and will closely resemble a homework problem from the previous week’s assignment; if you are unable to attend the recitation due to a valid reason, you may contact either the TA or myself for a makeup. There will be two midterm exams, each worth 20% of your grade. No makeups for the midterm exams will be given without a valid, verifiable excuse. The final exam will consist of two parts: Part I will be cumulative and Part II will cover only the new material since the last midterm exam. A higher score on Part I of the final will replace the lowest midterm exam score (but not both). Disability Support If you have an academic need related to a disability, arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. For information, please contact the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). To be granted alternate testing accommodations, you (the student) must fill out forms with CETL at least seven days before each and every exam. These forms are not sent automatically. Instructors are not responsible for requesting alternative testing accommodations at CETL, and they are not obligated to make any accommodations on their own. Academic Integrity Statement You are responsible for knowing and abiding by the University of Rochester’s academic integrity code. For a complete listing, visit the University of Rochester’s website regarding Academic Honesty . Any violation of academic integrity will be pursued according to the specified procedures. 2 Schedule Date 8/31 9/7 9/12 9/14 9/19 9/21 9/26 9/28 10/3 10/5 10/10 10/12 10/19 10/24 10/26 10/31 11/2 11/7 11/9 11/14 11/16 11/21 11/28 11/30 12/5 12/7 12/12 Section(s) Covered Homework Problems 1.1, 1.2 1.1: 12,16,20,26,28,30,32,68,72,74,82; Bonus: 87 1.2: 10,16,24,28,30,34,40,44,46,50,52,56,62,68,72,76,80; Bonus: 98 1.3 16,22,28,34,40,46,52,58,60,66,72,74,80,82,88,94,98,106,120; Bonus: 135 1.4 16,22,26,32,40,46,54,56,62,72,76,88,92; Bonus: 97 1.5 10,16,20,28,34,40,48,52,58,66,70,76,94,96,106; Bonus: 131 1.8 8,18,22,32,38,46,54,60,66,74,76,80,84; Bonus: 111 1.9 14,16,20,24,26,30,34,36,42,48,54,70,90,92; Bonus: 122a,b 1.10 10,16,18a,22,26,30,38,52,62,74,78; Bonus: 89 2.1, 2.2 2.1: 22,26,34,36,52,56,64; Bonus: 83 2.2: 10,12,22,26,38,44,52; Bonus: 80 2.6 10,16,20,28,34,46,56,62; Bonus: 100 2.7 10,14,20,28,32,40,44,50,52,60; Bonus: 78 2.8 16,18,26,40,46,50,62,68; Bonus: 98 Midterm 1 3.1, 3.2 3.3 3.6 4.1, 4.2 4.3 4.4 4.5 Review Midterm 2 5.2 5.3 5.5 7.1, 7.2 7.3 Review
