SETTING UP YOUR TRANSMITTER
Select and set your operating frequency. The Landmark S100 transmitter is
shipped preset to an operating frequency of 72.9MHz. If you experience interference or a weak signal on this frequency, you may choose one of the alternate
frequencies as described below. (Setting frequency).
Connect your FM transmitter to your source VIA the RCA inputs.
Connect your antenna to the transmitter. If using the telescopic “stick” type antenna, make sure the antenna connection to the transmitter is tight. If using the
included “butterfly” wire antenna, do NOT mount the antenna to any metal material. FM transmission radiates outward and down, so please be sure to mount this
antenna in a high location.
Plug in the power supply. The small LED light inside the unit should illuminate, indicating the transmitter is operational. There is no power switch on this transmitter.
IT can be turned off by simply unplugging the power supply from the transmitter
unit.
Turn on your Orpheus receiver and scan to your selected operating frequency. In
most cases, the factory setting on your transmitter will be 72.9MHz. Be sure to
plug your headphones into your receiver before scanning for your channel, as the
receiver will not stop on channel unless the headphones are plugged into it.
Listen and enjoy.
FREQUENCY SELECTION
Be sure to transmit on a frequency that is not in use locally. Operating without a
license still obligates you to refrain from causing interference.
Once you find a good channel, you should never have to change it. It is important
to make sure you do not set your transmitter to a channel that is already in use, since
this can cause interference to other listeners within range.
Setting Frequency
Your transmitter will arrive from the facto ry preset to an operating frequency of
72.9 MHz. In most cases, you will not need to change or adjust this setting. However, if you are unable to use this frequency due to interference in your area, or
if the selected frequency is in use locally, you will need to set the unit to operate
on an alternative frequency. Setting the frequency dials is as easy as choosing a
frequency and then setting the three dials on the transmitter to reflect your new
choice. Switch A is the tens place, Switch B tunes in the ones place and Switch C
controls the decimal place in your freSwitch A

quency choice. For example, if you
were to select a frequency of 76.5 you
would set Switch A to 7, Switch B to 6
and then Switch C to 5.
Example above is set to 72.9MHz

The volume controls (pictured above) adjust modulation. The left and right dials
control the volume when using the RCA connections for input, while the right dial
controls the volume and modulation when a microphone is used as your signal
source.
Increase or decrease the volume to achieve consistent loudness and quality
sound. While listening to an Orpheus receiver, you can adjust volume up or down
on the transmitter to get a clear, loud signal without distortion or over emphasized
“S” sounds that indicate a too high volume setting. When operating the transmitter
with an RCA connected source, the 12 o’clock position for the left and right dials is
usually perfect. Make sure that when a microphone is not in use, that the microphone volume control is turned down to the 9 o’clock position. If using a line level
microphone for your source, set the left and right volume controls to the 9 o’clock
position and turn the microphone volume up to the 12 o’clock position.
Once a baseline volume setting is established and the signal is clear of hiss or distortion, any further adjustments to volume should be done by the end user on the
Orpheus receiver.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
DO NOT OPEN the inner case or MODIFY the transmitter! This will void the warranty and may cause your unit to operate out of FCC compliance.
If you experience interference or static in your transmission, be sure that the antenna
connection is tight and adjust your antenna position until the signal clears. Some frequency settings will experience static regadless of how you set them up. If this is the
case, try a different operating frequency to see if another channel will offer a more
crisp signal.
