Faculty Positions in Mechanical Engineering The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Lamar University invites applications for multiple full-time positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in all areas of Mechanical Engineering starting Fall, 2016. Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, recruitment and supervision of graduate students, and the development of an actively funded research program of high quality. Qualifications include a Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field by the starting date of the appointment, a demonstrated record in research, and proven ability as an excellent teacher. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has 10 full time faculty members. The undergraduate mechanical engineering program is ABET/EAC accredited and has a current enrollment of 500 and is growing. The department also offers Master of Science in Engineering and Doctor of Engineering degree with a total enrollment of 130. Lamar University, located in Beaumont, TX, is a public university and a member of the Texas State University System. The university has experienced tremendous growth over the past decade, with enrollment steadily increasing to 15,000. The metropolitan Beaumont area, located 85 miles east of Houston, has a population of 100,000. The local petrochemical industry makes the area very strong economically.
