Please carefully study these instructions and installation options available before deciding on how you wish to
install this tray.
Please note that although these instructions are comprehensive we always recommend that a technically
competent installer undertakes the installation.
When handling your shower tray take care not to damage the bottom edges and when installing take particular care
to protect the visible surfaces from impact damage or abrasions.
Check that the shower tray is the colour, size, shape and type you require.
Unpack and check for damage. Do not install if not satisfied.
Check pack and ensure you have all of the parts listed. If not please contact your supplier who will be able to help you.
Check that the top surface of the shower tray (1) is compatible with your intended shower enclosure, taking into
account the loss of dimension that will result after tiles etc have been fitted.
Note! The compatibility of the top surface of the tray and an enclosure is especially important if using a shower
tray with a built in tiling upstand.
If you install this shower tray in conjunction with a steam unit, you must ensure that the steam outlet is a minimum of 350mm from the top of the tray.
When considering your installation method, you should be able to attach or repair your waste or waste outlet in situ.
Note! Take great care when drilling or cutting holes in any area to avoid hidden pipes or cables

Floor Level Installation
When you are ready to start make sure you have the right tools to hand, plenty of space and a clean dry area.
1.
Place the shower tray (1) in position on a level floor in the intended area and mark the area covered. If installing on a suspended floor, the total floor area (or larger) covered by the shower tray must be removed and replaced with a single piece of ply (min 18mm thick).
Note! Ensure that there is sufficient unobstructed area for the waste outlet and plumbing between joists, or subsurface excavation in concrete floors.
2.
Put the plywood in position, then place the shower tray on the ply and mark the waste hole location (See Fig 1). Suspended floors only.
3.
Drill or cut a hole in the plywood suitable for the total size of the Hi-Flow waste (L) being used and NO larger (See Fig 2). Suspended floors only.
Note! A small additional keyhole shaped cut-out for some types of shower tray waste outlets L) may be required (See Fig 3). When using a ply base.

4.
Remove the plywood and install the pipe-work in accordance with building regulations, if in doubt consult a qualified plumber.
Note! If installing on a level concrete floor the plywood board is not necessary but a trench for the waste pipe and trap will be required with access area.
Note! Some shower trays have a protective film indicated by a label on the surface this should now be removed at this stage and a further inspection of the shower tray undertaken. DO NOT PROCEED IF NOT SATISFIED.
5.
Before proceeding dry fit all items in situ to ensure compatibility and screw the ply into position if applicable and ensuring that the area is flat and level.
Note! It is normal for the shower tray to appear insecure when undertaking a test dry fitting.
6.
If fitting the optional (not supplied) ‘Flexi Seal Strip’ (Flat top shower trays only) please follow instructions supplied with this item at this stage.
7.
Apply compound adhesive or a suitable contact adhesive over the entire area to allow full support of the tray (See Fig 4 on page 4).
3
226CAF-V5- 10/2013 LH
Note!
Always follow the instructions supplied with the adhesive.
8.
Attach the Hi-Flow waste outlet (L) and place the shower tray (1) onto the wet adhesive ensuring it is fully supported and level on the outer rims only as the shower tray has a built in fall to allow adequate drainage (See Fig 5).
Note! Ensure tray is fully stuck down, weight down if necessary to ensure level and good contact.
9.
When the adhesive has set, remove any excess and connect all plumbing the tray MUST now be checked for water tightness and adequate drainage over the entire area. DO NOT PROCEED IF NOT SATISFIED.
Note! When fitting a shower enclosure refer to the manufacturer’s installation instructions.

Care & Use of Your Shower Tray
These installation instructions should be retained and passed to the user for possible future reference.
Your shower tray can be maintained in an as near new condition for many years by following a simple cleaning
procedure as follows:
It is normal for small amounts of localized water to be retained on the shower tray’s surfaces after use which should be
wiped dry immediately to prevent build up of sediments.
The shower tray and or panels should be cleaned regularly with warm, soapy water only and dried with a cloth. Never
use scourers, abrasives, bleach or other chemical cleaners.
Troubleshooting:
Q: What is a suitable contact adhesive?
A: Contact your local DIY retailer and request an adhesive intended for sticking ABS (the plastic base of shower tray) to wood / concrete as applicable.
Q: The waste outlet in the shower tray is directly over an obstruction at floor level.
A: Consider switching to a raised option or re-locating shower tray.
Q: The shower tray’s waste will not fit through the plywood and connection point.
A: Cut a slightly larger hole with a keyhole section over the connection point.
Q: There is water retaining on the surfaces of the tray.
A: Check that the shower tray is level (top rims) as it is normal for small amounts of localized water to be retained.
Q: The shower tray will not fit the space available.
A: Consider recessing the edge of the tray into adjoining walls or using a smaller shower tray and enclosure.
Q: Water will not flow fast enough down the waste outlet.
A: Check that the waste unit is correctly installed and that outlet pipe has sufficient angle and is not kinked causing
an air blockage.
Q: The enclosure will not fit on the shower tray.
A: Check that the available surface on top of the tray is compatible with the size, shape and adjustment range of your enclosure, change enclosure if required.
Q: Water escapes from a fitted walkin or frameless enclosure.
A: It is normal for spillage to occur from walkin or frameless type enclosures, consider changing to a fully framed enclosure.
Q: The shower tray itself feels flexible when installed in a raised option.
A: This is not a problem in itself. However, you may wish to attach a 11mm board to the base of the tray if desired.
Q: The installed shower tray assembly feels loose.
A: Check that floor under the tray is rigid and level, also check that you have installed all the available legs forming an evenly supported structure and that all the legs are fully in contact with the floor.
Q: Can I lower or raise the legs to give a gap smaller or bigger than 96mm under the shower tray..
A: The legs can be adjusted nominally from 75mm to 113mm. However, the panels are 95mm high without using an alternative and the waste unit requires a gap of 80mm to fit without reassessing into the floor.
Q: Can I remove the panels at a later date.
A: Yes the panel assembly is designed to enable ease of removal to inspect the plumbing or to adjust the feet if
required.
