MM SERIES INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ** Installation of these products should only be performed by a qualified electrician. ** Warnings: Caution – Risk of Shock • T his product must be installed in accordance with the applicable installation code by a person familiar with the construction and operation of the product and the hazards involved. • Make sure all electrical power is turned off while installing the fixture. • This luminaire must be adequately grounded for protection against shock hazards and to assure proper operation. • Disconnect power before servicing. • Always use correct lamp type and wattages. NEMA TYPE “G” INSTALLATION (Grid Ceiling) Step 1: Remove tile where fixture is be installed. Step 3: Install fixture on grid using guy wire locations on four corners. Note: Fixture weight is approximately 60 lbs and must be supported properly. Step 2: Fixture should be centered width-wise over bed and from 0” - 24” from wall (headboard end). For optimum performance space fixture at least 12” from wall. Orient fixture with reading light portion towards bed headwall. Fig. 2 Fig. 1 Step 4: Wire fixture in accordance with national and local codes. • Fixture can be wired from multiple locations, using top and side knockouts. • Wiring compartment is accessible from below, no tools required. • Wiring instructions are provided within wiring compartment (see affixed labels) and diagrams on electrical devices. • When side wire entry is required, exam light reflector may need to be removed for easy access. Replace after completion. Step 5: Install lamps (by others). Note: Perforated baskets swing down for easy relamping.Push up slightly on perforated shield to disengage. NOTES: • E xam light lenses are removed and installed in a “lift and shift” manner, noting orientation on acrylic lenses. Smooth side should face down and the lamp obscuring prism section should be oriented toward the outside edge of the fixture (Fig. 3). Fig. 5A Fig. 5B Step 2: Remove reading compartment reflector (Fig. 6) Step 6: Install (4) 1/4-20 carriage bolts, threading one (1) nut all the way on each carriage bolt to keep it from pushing out of the yoke. Thread (4) alignment tubes (provided) to 1/4-20 carriage bolts (Fig 9). Fig. 6 Fig. 9 Step 3: Remove exam compartment lens and lamp brackets (Fig. 7) Fig. 7 Step 7: Install power feeds to fixture, bring fixture up to alignment tubes, and feed through mounting holes. Step 8: Push fixture up so that it is flat against ceiling. Step 9: Remove one alignment tube at a time. Install mounting hardware (provided). Repeat for each corner. Step 4: Open 7/8” knockouts at corners. Step 5: Mount yoke to support frame using screws by others (Fig. 8). See dimensions on Figure 5. Measure to notch in bottom of yoke.
