Statement of Issue:
As construction of the new detention center nears project completion it is time to order the network and
telephone system equipment. The Information Technology Department and the Sheriff’s Department have
finalized the requirements required to support the facility. We are requesting approval to issue purchase orders
for the network equipment from the Georgia State Contract, Cisco Systems Inc. through DISYS Solutions, Inc.
in the amount of $84,682.90, the telephone system equipment from the National Contract through Mitel
Business Systems, Inc. in the amount of $65,001.63, and programming and installation of the telephone
system as a sole source with Integrated Network Solutions in the amount of $21,577.50 with all funding
provided by Detention Center Improvements 3515.54375.
Approval will position the Sheriff’s Department to support all proposed voice, data, and video requirements in
the new detention center campus and interconnect to the Glynn County Enterprise Network.
Alternatives:
1) Recommend
• approve the request to issue purchase orders to Georgia State Contract, Cisco Systems Inc. through
DISYS Solutions, Inc. in the amount of $84,682.90, the telephone system equipment to National
Contract, Mitel Business Systems Inc. in the amount of $65,001.63, and programming and installation
of the telephone system as a sole source to Integrated Network Solutions in the amount of $21,577.50
with all funding provided by Detention Center Improvements 3515.54375.
2) Install equipment based on a drastically reduced support platform.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends alternative number 1.
