CMU currently seeking applications for part-time lecturers to teach Medical Laboratory Technology RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to other related duties, the lecturers’ essential duties and responsibilities include: Instruct medical laboratory technology courses, primarily clinical microbiology, clinical chemistry, clinical immunology and phlebotomy on campus and online. Maintain professional skills and credentials through ongoing professional development. Employ available instructional technology, i.e. the internet, learning management systems, smart rooms, and interactive technology, when appropriate. Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and provide timely feedback. Assist in assessing program outcomes. Assist in representing and marketing the program to the private and public sector. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to Clinical Laboratory Science. Thirty–six hours of documented continuing education in the last three years. 4,000 hours of work experience within the five years immediately preceding the date of hire for the credential field. Current nationally recognized Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification by one of the following: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT). DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE INCLUDES: Master’s Degree preferred Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP)cm preferred Familiarity with D2L or other online teaching platform Teaching experience in either a MLT or MLS program in the areas of clinical microbiology, clinical chemistry, clinical immunology or phlebotomy Strong interpersonal skills Knowledge of active learning strategies Colorado Mesa University is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who have a demonstrated commitment to improving the levels of access and success for underrepresented students within higher education.
