Since being hired by North Georgia in 1995, he has taught introductory geology courses 37 times over that 18-year period and is regarded as a local expert. He maintains active memberships in GMS (Georgia Mineral Society) and the Tellus Science Museum, both of which keep him current in the field of geology. These credentials, in conjunction with his doctorate in chemistry, qualify him to teach introductory Geology courses, which have a significant amount of chemistry embedded in the course content.
