#2 Northern Gateway Project Update & CAB Changes – Catherine Pennington

• The funding partners and our leadership team continue to be very supportive of the CAB process.

• Northern Gateway is not being driven by a construction date; we continue working at building relationships with Aboriginal, Métis and non-aboriginal communities.

• In 2014, nine parties filed for leave in the Federal Court of Appeal to express their concerns about the JRP and NEB process. Those nine parties were consolidated into one group who will present to the court. We are anticipating a decision could be reached as early as January 2016.

• Northern Gateway and the AEP Stewards look forward to an opportunity to meet with the new

Premier of Alberta.

#4 Community Communications Representative Introduction – Sam Munckhof-Swain

Northern Gateway has heard from stakeholders that we need to have a stronger voice within communities. There is a desire to create long term partnerships and build strong relationships. We took these comments to heart and have created the Community Communications Representatives (CCR)

Program.

The CCR’s are a group of summer students who are our “boots on the ground “in communities. Their role is to learn about Northern Gateway, bring information back to the community as well as provide a place for community members to turn when they have questions about the project.

Currently we have 20 CCR’s across BC and Alberta in a heavy learning phase so they have a solid understanding of the Northern Gateway project.

#5 Changes to the CAB’s – Donny van Dyk

• Northern Gateway is combining the two Northwest Regional CAB’s which will allow for collaboration between the Northern communities.

• The two Alberta CABs will now be combined into one large CAB.

• We will be looking at less in person meetings but more town hall style meetings using a variety of technologies.

BC North Coastal CAB Round #23 – Meeting Summary – Terrace, BC 2015

• For the time being, CAB Conferences will be discontinued –we hope to bring them back in the future.

• Meetings will start and end on time to allow people time to travel safely to and from their home communities.

• Going forward we would like to propose fewer presentations by our team and more interactive conversations focusing more on the advisory piece.

#6 Sharing Table – Donny van Dyk

• Previously we had two members from each CAB participate in the Sharing Table. With the reduction in CAB’s, we will now have three members from each of the three CAB’s sit as Sharing Table Representatives.

• Sharing Table Representatives will be asked to participate in conference calls prior to each CAB meeting to discuss the agenda and again following each meeting to provide feedback.

#7 Socio Economic Presentation – Catherine Pennington

Northern Gateway has established 5 Pillars of Sustainability based on input from communities:

• Land – Protection and preservation; biodiversity protection; reduce, reuse, recycle

Community under the sustainability platform includes the engagement zone (our right-of-way) and in the context of Northern Gateway, includes an Aboriginal scope and a northern scope.
