SCOPE OF POLICY 3.1 This policy applies to all employees of the Group. 3.2 The People Services Team are responsible for the monitoring and delivery of the policy. 4. 4.1 DETAIL Domestic abuse may be defined as any incident of violence, abuse or threatening behaviour between adults who are, or who have been, intimate partners or family members. The policy applies equally to men and women (including same sex couples) and covers psychological, emotional and financial abuse in addition to physical abuse. 4.2 In the event children, young people or vulnerable adults are involved in an environment involving domestic abuse guidance should be sought from the Safeguarding Policy and relevant action taken. 4.3 The People Services Team can offer confidential support to employees experiencing domestic abuse and can sign-post to appropriate external support 4.4 Line managers have a crucial role to play in enabling employees experiencing domestic abuse to seek help. The organisation provides guidance and support to managers in handling sensitive issues, raising awareness of domestic abuse in teams, and operating the procedures for handling instances of domestic abuse. 4.5 The organisation recognises that those experiencing domestic abuse may need to be absence from work at times and will assist with this wherever operationally possible. LMH Group Page 3 of 4 DOMESTIC ABUSE POLICY 4.6 The organisation will endeavour to protect the safety and security of all employees at work, including those affected by domestic abuse and their colleagues. 5. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT 5.1 The performance of this policy will be monitored on an informal basis by People Services, following discussion with employees and their manager. 6. POLICY REVIEW AND IMPROVEMENT FRAMEWORK 6.1 This policy has been reviewed in line with LMH Group Policy Review Framework. The next review will be completed in July 2018. In line with LMH Group continuous improvement strategy the policy review will incorporate an assessment of key internal and external influencers to ensure the policy reflects best practice together with all legal and statutory requirements.
