Poles City of Safford As consulting engineers for the City of Safford, AZ, Transmission & Distribution Services has been requested to provide specifications for eleven steel distribution poles. Poles will be mostly engineered self-supporting (both direct embed and anchor based). Self-supporting poles shall withstand all forces without guying, including full dead-end loads. One wood-pole equivalent is needed. All poles shall have a self-weathering steel finish. Enclosed is the design information and specifications for the poles. Included for each pole are dimensions, load tables, loading trees and drilling guides. Cross-arms are not needed in this quote. Owner will provide and attach wood cross-arms as needed. Load cases for the poles for each conductor are provided in the bid specifications. Poles are to be manufactured to the guidelines specified in RUS Bulletin 1724E-204 “Guide Specification for Steel Single Pole and H-Frame Structures”. All poles will require two stainless steel 2-hole NEMA ground pads as indicated on the drilling guides. Direct embedded poles will have Corrocote or equivalent protective coating from the butt of the pole, to the top of the groundsleeve. The quotation shall include the moments, axial loading, and shear for each pole as well as dimensions, weights, and lead time/delivery schedule. Pricing, including delivery and all applicable taxes, shall be provided for all poles. The FOB delivery site will be City of Safford Warehouse, 373 W. Discovery Park Blvd, Safford, AZ, 85546.
