CONFERENCE TOPICS
The conference subjects cover the field of electric energy sector, i.e. power systems operation, control, development, planning, analysis, economics, regulation etc. The emphasis is given to the central and south-eastern Europe regions and their integration into global systems. Experiences from various countries and environments, both from industry and academia are highly appreciated. Topics include but are not limited to:
Power system operation and control
ISO/TSO system control issues, system dynamics, containment of massive amount of intermittent generation, vehicles and grid, black out prevention, protection and control integration, data exchange issues, on-line
control - FACTS and HVDC, dynamic security assessment, on-line monitoring - PMU and WAMS.
Energy markets, economics and legislation
Market clearing, pricing, tariffs and metering, competition and risk management, generation scheduling,
independent power producers, emission allowances and trading, generation capacity, legislation, grid codes
and regulation, expansion and long term planning, power system economics.
Renewable energy sources, distribution, SmartGrids, consumption
Renewable and distributed power sources, energy storage, distribution development, Smart Grids for transmission and distribution, demand side participation and response.
Development and planning of electricity systems - global trends and regional response
Global trends in power system development, regional power system development and impact of global trends,
infrastructures and investments in electricity sector, information exchange needs, standardization, new tools
for technical performance assessment, power quality, integration of massive amount of renewables.
Education, training
Ageing workforce, knowledge management, education programs and curricula, operator training.
EXHIBITION
The Technical Exhibition will give an opportunity to network with delegates of key players in the electicity
sector (manufacturers, operators, service and consultancy providers) and provide increased visibility of
businesses in and outside the region.

Established in 2005, this annual Conference gives emhasis to research and development for the future of the
deregulated electricity sector by presenting the efforts undertaken by various academic and research establishments, industry and regulating bodies, offering a forum for networking and cooperation in a wider sense.
