INSPECTION ITEMS DESCRIPTION
INTERVAL
• General Check
3 Years
1. Clean the Insulated surface with dry cloth to remove dust
and moisture.
2. Check the exterior for damage.
3. Check for loose bolts and nuts of the operating mechanism.
4. Check stop ring and stop retainer for damage.
5. Check terminals for loose connection or correction.
• Operation Test
3 years
1. Operate a few times manually and electrically.
Check each part for proper function.
2. Check ON/OFF indicator and counter for proper function.
• Insulation Resistance
1. Measure insulation resistance between phase and between pole
and ground with a 1000V megger. If the measured value is less
than 500M , check the cause.
2. Check the insulation resistance between control circuit and ground
using a 500V megger If the measured value is less than 2M ,
check the cause.
3 years
• Lubrication
10 years or 5000 operations
1. Lubricate each part of operating mechanism.
2. Clean disconnection unit with a dry cloth and a small amount of
grease. (lithium soapbased grease)
• Vacuum Interrupter
10 years or 5000 operations
1. Check the contact erosion limit.
2. Operating the circuit, check the vacuum degree of vacuum bottle.

38 kV Switchgear Features
Controlled Power has manufactured 38kV switchgear since 1980. Hundreds of 38kV circuit breakers are in reliable operation
in transit, utility, and industrial applications.
The breakers, including vacuum interrupters, are designed and manufactured with advanced vacuum technology and have
been tested according to the latest version of ANSI Standards in ISO 9001 facilities.
The circuit breakers are available in 1200A, 2000A, 2500A, and 3000A (FC) continuous ratings. The breakers are constantly
being improved to satisfy all demands of the market.

LOW MAINTENANCE
• The HVF Circuit Breaker requires very little maintenance. Only those parts subject
to normal wear and aging need to be serviced to ensure reliable operation.
• Routine checks are required after 3 years and no lubrication is required until 10
years in normal operation.
CIRCUIT BREAKER FEATURES
• Both 31.5kA and 40kA interrupting ratings are available. Why pay for the high
interrupting breaker unless it is necessary?

Dimensions in mm
• The HVF Breaker utilizes self-aligning/self-coupling secondary disconnects that
assure positive connection of relay circuits to the trip coil of the circuit breaker.
• No manual connection of a plug and socket or umbilical cord by a technician is
required. Heavy-duty utility grade contacts are furnished instead of light duty
electronic type connectors.
38 KV CELL INTERIOR
• Self-aligning/self-coupling secondaries - no manual plug &
socket connection required.
38 KV SWITCHGEAR FEATURES
• Enclosures are only 42 inches wide.
• Drawout CPT’s (up to 15 kVA) or draw-out PT’s can be mounted above circuit
breakers in the same enclosure, thus reducing the length of the lineup.
• Grounded metal shutters.
• Closed door racking is available.
• Full set of ANSI interlocks.
• Remote trip/close is available.
• Rugged construction.
• Separate disconnect, test and connected positions.
• Remote electronically operated racking device is available.
