Since remote wireless LAN access points
are vulnerable to tampering, theft and the
type of physical or climate-related damage
that can be experienced in some indoor or
outdoor installations, Belden now supplies
two easy-to-install protective enclosures:
• Belden Part No. BWIE-100,
a 14 x 10 x 4” Indoor WiFi Enclosure
• Belden Part No. BWOE-100,
a 14 x 12 x 7” Outdoor WiFi Enclosure
These NEMA-rated enclosures are a perfect
security complement to the Belden Wireless
Solution’s Access Points (APs) when the APs
must be installed in remote areas – or areas
where they can be physically damaged if they
are out in the open, such as in gymnasiums
and K-12 educational facilities – or in
outdoor areas where they are exposed
to the elements.
Belden’s dual-radio and four-radio XtraThin
Access Points (APs) are a key element of the
Belden Wireless Solution, a unique Edge
Architecture/Channel Blanket WLAN system
that utilizes smart 8-, 12- or 24-port Switches
and “thin,” radio-like Access Points. The Belden
Wireless Solution is unique in its ability to help
its users achieve a guaranteed and predictable
rate of connection and service and a secure,
zero-latency, interference free WLAN.
BWIE-100 Indoor WiFi Enclosure
Belden BWIE-100 Indoor Enclosure is
constructed of UV stabilized ABS and includes
a fully-gasketed, lockable raised lid; three
rubber cable glands; a heavy-duty hook-andloop tape to mount equipment within the
enclosure; and a removable power module with
two 110 VAC outlets. This Weatherproof unit is
NEMA Type 3R/IP42 rated plus it
is ROHS compliant.
In addition to its use in areas where the
APs are susceptible to physical damage, the
particularly compact size of this enclosure
makes it ideal for locations with limited
space requirements, i.e., equipment closets
or mobile applications. Since the enclosure is
aesthetically-pleasing, it can also be used in
those areas where aesthetics are important
such as office environments and public
areas that require HotSpots.
BWOE-100 Outdoor WiFi Enclosure
Belden BWOE-100 Outdoor Enclosure is a
Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Weatherproof
cabinet that includes a Category 5 PoE
interface; a plastic mounting plate; and a
48 VDC thermostat-controlled cooling fan.
The enclosure is constructed of molded

fiberglass reinforced polyester plus it includes
stainless steel quick-release latches and padlock
hasps and a fully-gasketed, raised lid and
integral mounting flange. The unit is NEMA
Type 3R/IP42.
The BWOE-100 is especially well-suited for
high temperature or corrosive environments.
The Cat 5 interface splits the Data and Power
carried by a Cat 5 cable to the internal
equipment and supplies 48 VDC to the cooling
fan. The interface includes lightning protection
and support for normal and reverse polarity
PoE equipment. To supply the required current
to the equipment and fan, BWOE-ACC power
supply and injector kit should be used. The
cooling fan is powered via the Cat 5 PoE
interface. The high airflow, low noise fan
allows air to be pushed or pulled through the
enclosure. The fan’s filters are easily removable
for cleaning and replacement. The fan
automatically turns on when the internal
temperature rises to 120ºF (490ºC) and
turns off at 90ºF (320C).
