trays
WITH
Lay the tray on the floor in its finished position and mark around.
Allow 10mm clearance around the base ensuring that the horizontal
flanges of the tray will be completely supported on all four sides.
•
Determine the direction of the waste tray’s drainage channel and the
outlet pipe and mark the position of trap and pipe run.
•
Remove the tray and stitch drill through the screed and into concrete
slab either side of the waste trays drainage channel and the outlet pipe
run. Breakout for trap and pipe so that the top of the trap can be
positioned 50mm below finished floor level.
•
Starting from the trap position work outwards to remove the screed to
create a recess 45mm in depth. Always cut vertically into the screed.

SETTING TRAP IN POSITION & MAKING GOOD
30mm well
to be constructed
•
Secure trap and waste outlet pipe in position with mortar. Ensure the
top of the trap is positioned 50mm below FFL.
•
Make good the broken-out area by adding mortar to create an accurate
recess 30mm in depth below FFL to within 100mm radius of trap. Offering
the tray into position, loosely connect the trap to the waste outlet; take
great care not to disturb the 50mm depth setting. Allow mortar to dry.
floor tile adhesive
SETTING TRAY IN POSITION
•
Apply firm hand pressure around trap area to ensure tray outlet makes
good contact with top of trap.
•
Remove tray, debris and dust from prepared area.
•
Add floor tile adhesive to the recessed area to a thickness of approximately
6mm; ensure the corrugations on the underside of the tray come into
contact with the adhesive.
•
With tray removed and upturned apply silicone sealant generously to the
horizontal flange.
•
Bed the tray into position using firm hand pressure over the complete
area. The tray must be fully supported.
•
Check that there is a minimum fall of 6mm (from perimeter to the outlet)
by using the grille on edge as shown. Tighten the trap flange and remove
any excess sealant that may have squeezed out from beneath the horizontal
flange of the tray. Check accurately that the perimeter of the tray is level
on all four sides. With the grille in position re-check that perimeter is
level and allow adhesive to cure before any further works are carried out.
To complete the installation refer to the floor and wall finishing section.

1. Mark the dimensions of the area to be cut
out, measuring from the plaster face, and cut
out the floorboards, leaving adequate support
for the flanges (see diagram A).
Remove a suitable floorboard (not directly
adjacent to the opening, see diagram A) for
later access to the trap, if required.
Note: Where a wall abuts the shower tray make
good the plaster to the FFL (Finished Floor
Level).
2. Determine the direction of the waste outlet,
and break out the wall as required
(diagram A).
Alternatively, (i) drop the waste pipe to
H/L (High Level) below joists and box out
if desired, (ii) use pump drainage
(see diagram I).
3. Ensure that floor joists do not obstruct either
the trap or the waste outlet pipe.
4. Lay and fix 6mm ply, if required, approx.
100-150mm wide, flush to the outside edges
of the opening taking care not to obstruct
the access boards.
Alternatively, if later access to the waste trap
is not required, sheet out the whole of the
floor area in 6mm ply, ready to receive the
floorcovering.

screwing the threaded flange to the main body of
the trap, ensuring all sealing rubbers are in place.

2. Tile the walls in the normal manner, ensuring that tiles overlap the lip of
the tray but do not overlap the grille (see diagram H).
Fi
To ensure correct door installation the finished wall must not project more
than 15mm in from the tray upstand.

of the joist will be required
(to a maximum depth of
10mm x 75mm wide).

ii. Dry test fit the tray to ensure that there is
no gap between the plywood and underside
of tray. Check this by pressing down gently
all over the tray. If the flange flexes, the
supporting plywood will have to be adjusted
accordingly.
1. Vinyl floorcovering must be laid (to manufacturer’s instructions) with a
waterproof epoxy resin adhesive, ensuring that the floor adjacent to the
butt joints between the floorcovering and the shower tray are completely
covered, with no danger of water seepage at this point (see diagram G).
4. Ensure that no cavities exist between the supporting
plywood and the undertray’s base or horizontal
flanges. With the tray in position check that there
is a minimum fall of 6mm (from perimeter to outlet)
by using the grille on edge as shown (see diagram
E). Remove tray and apply a generous bead of
silicone sealant to the corrugated undertray surface
and the horizontal flanges. Sealant on the
corrugations assists in retaining the tray in its
final position, whilst sealant on the flanges creates
an effective bond to the 6mm plywood. Check for
level and clean off any excess silicone from the
flange edges.
ALWAYS WATER TEST WASTE PIPE & FITTINGS TO
ENSURE THERE IS NO LEAKAGE.
5. The remaining floor area should now be sheeted
out with 6mm ply, if not already done, before laying
the final floor covering.
These fitting instructions are issued as a general guideline. Always check local conditions and if in doubt seek advice.
Position the shower grille within the tray.
I
Where conventional drainage is not feasible, successful installations can
be achieved by incorporating a bottom pump outlet system. Specialist
advice is always available from our installation engineers.

•
With tray removed and upturned apply silicone sealant generously to the

•
Bed the tray into position using firm hand pressure over the complete
area. The tray must be fully supported.

Check that there is a minimum fall of 6mm (from perimeter to the outlet)
by using the grille on edge as shown. Tighten the trap flange and remove
any excess sealant that may have squeezed out from beneath the horizontal

on all four sides. With the grille in position re-check that perimeter is
level and allow adhesive to cure before any further works are carried out.
