The reed part contains the reed encapsulated watertight with
the two-component polyurethane resin in conjunction with a
loop tamper in order to reduce the risk of burglary.
The connection is 4 core (2 core for the NC contact with near
magnet and 2 core for the tamper).
The 401 is fixed to the frame using screws.
The 401 concealed magnetic contact can be installed on
aluminium frames, wood, PVC, iron, etc. It is especially suitable
for Vasistas fixtures, in fact the minimal thickness of the
contact enables installation directly onto the chassis frame
where a dept of just 4,5mm is the norm.
Once closed the fixture contact is concealed in the space
between the frame and window.

Thermoplastic magnetic contact for flush mounting on doors and
windows. Suitable to be mounted on aluminium, wood and PVC
doors and windows, and in general, on all non-ferromagnetic
material (iron frames will significantly reduce operating distance).
Its long operating distance allows installation also on window
frames with large tolerance or play.
It is mounted with pressure on the frame into an 8 mm diameter
hole.
The reed section contains a tight reed bulb with polyurethane
resin and an anti-tampering loop to reduce violation risks.
Available versions include NC contact, NC-NO (changeover)
contact, and different cable lengths. Connection uses 4 wires
(2 wires for NC contact with near magnet and 2 wires for antitampering) or 5 wires with changeover reed (3 wires for reed
contacts + 2 wires for anti-tampering).
Available in white and brown colours.

Magnetic contact for indoor surface mounting with high security
standard. Series 1000, in an elegant annealed aluminium case,
is a standard equipment for security systems in banks, shopping
malls and all those facilities that require most security in external
protection. It is equipped with protection against magnetic,
electric and mechanical violation.
The double or triple balancing magnetic circuits, where all
different reeds interlace to the magnetic fields generated by
magnet batteries, are unbalanced by the application of an
external magnet, triggering the alarm as a consequence.
Wire protection is ensured by an anti-tampering loop and a
plasticized steel sheath. Versions 1021 and 1031 offer maximum
security with tear-off protection through micro switch and antitampering loop for the reed section and the magnet part (4 wires
on the magnet part); moreover, the version 1031 is linked to the
central control unit for remote testing (6 wires on the reed part).
M versions (without cable) are provided with a window and
related cover to directly access the circuit board on which the
operator can mount one or more resistors, in series or parallel to
the contact.

Magnetic contact for indoor and outdoor surface mounting with
high security standards.
The nice and sober design of the metallic case links installation
practicality and robustness.
Series 1000 N is suitable for security system in a bank (many
models are IMQ I or II level certified), in a shopping centre and
public office; the internal magnetic circuits are designed for
having double and triple balancing, for assuring a protection
against any type of violation (mechanical, electrical and
magnetic).
All models don’t need any junction box considering the internal
terminal connections.
Each model has tamper protection against cap opening.
The fixing nut housing into container is arranged to accept
cable or tube gland 16mm and cable till 10mm of diameter (as
standard accessory there is a M16 cable gland).
Version 1021 N offers maximum security with tear-off

Inertia sensor for impact detection in self-protected housing.
It incorporates gold-plated contacts which, in case of any
perpendicular impact onto the mounting surface, open the
contact (NC in normal conditions) for a time proportional to the
impact strength. It is normally used on doors, windows and
wherever it is necessary to detect impact.
The series 446 is provided in two versions: the 446-AN is
provided with incorporated analysis card with sensitivity
adjustment for the inertia sensor through a trimmer, selectable
NC-NO relay output and LED memory.
Version 446-AVR is on the contrary suitable for connection with
radio transmitters and presents a very low draw open-collector
output.
Both versions are supplied with terminal connection and micro
switch protection against cover opening included.

Piezoelectric sensor able of detecting the typical frequency of

vibration.
It is provided with dual connection (2+2 wires) to shunt the
connections for other sensors. The contact is normally open
(NO) and closes when the glass breaking/cutting frequency is
detected.
It must be interfaced to an analysis board, such as 448-CSA,
which features relay output and controls the sensor with
balanced line.
Each analysis card can be connected to several sensors in

Conventional multi-purpose detector that can be operated
as either an optical, optical-heat, rate of rise heat or fixed
temperature heat sensor at 77° with dip-switch adjustment.
Suitable for direct connection with most conventional third
party central stations.
The detector is equipped with a 12V relay base and can be
configured to store the alarm condition in memory or to restore
automatically.
The detector is equipped with a dual LED indicator:
fixed red LED indicating the alarm/fault condition,
blinking red LED indicating normal conditions, blinking yellow
LED indicating smoke detection, some fault in the analysis
chamber or the achievement of the maximum compensation
capacity at the contamination site.

It is normally used for the protection against the flooding of
computing centres, boiler rooms, offices, laboratories, etc.
It cannot be used with inflammable liquids.
Version 1450-CSA, available with 12 or 24 Vdc power supply,
is equipped with changeover relay output to control telephone
combiners, alarm sirens, etc.
In addition, it can be connected to several external probes 1450S-CSA (up to 10).
For higher protection, it is also equipped with a moisture
detector, whose sensitivity can be regulated with internal
trimmer.
Version with 24 Vac power supply is available.

Sensor detecting water on the floor through 2 gold plated
supporting feet.
It is normally used for protection against the flooding of
computing centres, boiler rooms, offices, laboratories, etc.
The sensor contained into aluminium case epoxy white painting
is equipped with a steel support that allows to detect liquid at
height ranging form 0 to 11 mm according to specific needs.
In alarm condition, relay changes its status and led lights.
Remote testing and inhibition functions.
The circuit is oscillating to prevent electrolysis and corrosion
problem.
7 wire connection for 2450-N and terminal for 2450-NM: 2
power terminals, 3 terminal for changeover relay output, 1 for
remote test, 1 terminal for inhibition. Version 2450-N offers a
protection degree IP 67 thanks to full epoxy resin encapsulation.
Trimmer adjustable alarm threshold for the resistor in version
2450-NM.
It can not be used with inflammable liquids.

IMQ Alarm Certification. The Italian quality certification institute IMQ (Istituto Italiano del Marchio di Qualità) issues CEI compliance
certifications and the relevant authorization to apply the IMQ brand. IMQ-certified equipment is controlled both during certification and
production.
Performance standards. CEI 79-2 and 79-3 standards attribute three security levels to each component: the highest level is the
highest security. These levels determine the overall security standard of the system.
New European Standards
CENELEC received from the European Union (EU) the mandate for developing a series of standards including those named EN 50131: Alarm
systems - Intrusion and hold-up systems.
Once ratified, all the EN standards must be implemented by the national committee, and to this aim they have a deadline date for any conflicting
national standards to be either withdrawn or amended. As a consequence the series of standards EN 50131, will gradually replace or amend
the national standards CEI 79-2, 79-3, etc.

For intruder, hold up and anti attack alarm systems, the IP 3X protection degree must be guaranteed as a minimum.
Tests must be carried out according to standard CEI 70-1.
The test for the first characteristic digit 3 or 4 is passed if the relevant probe cannot be inserted or, if it penetrates, a sufficient distance
is maintained between live parts and hazardous moving parts, and, also, the equipment cannot be inhibited.
INTRUDER, HOLD UP AND ANTI ATTACK ALARM SYSTEMS
DEFINITIONS
A good security system consists of an hold up alarm system combined with an intruder alarm system.
Hold up alarm system. Part of a set of predominantly electric and electronic equipment, adequately arranged and connected, suitable
to detect and signal breaking attempts to pass physical barriers (e.g. if a roller shutter is protected by a rope contact or a door/window is
protected by a magnetic reed contact, system signals the breaking attempt before the thief has passed the physical barrier).
Therefore, it is a boundary protection that alerts before the thief has entered.
Intruder alarm system. Part of a security system consisting of a set of predominantly electric and electronic equipment, adequately
arranged and connected, suitable to detect and signal unauthorized intrusion attempts (e.g. in a room protected by a volumetric sensor,
the sensor generates an alarm when the thief is inside the protected area, i.e. inside the house).
Detectors (also called sensors or transducers). Devices that can generate electric signals from physical events caused or affected
by intrusion, theft and aggression attempts. Passive detectors simply consist of a physical process detector (electromechanical
contacts, magnetic contacts, vibration contacts, microphones, heat detectors, passive infrared detectors etc.), while active detectors
are made up of an emitter-detector system (microwaves, ultrasounds, active infrared etc.).
The detector output signal can be analogue (for pulse operation, the pulse duration must be longer than 500 ms) or logical (sequential
or combinatory).
Central unit. Device that defines the operating status of system, receives and processes signals from the detectors, activates the
devices for alarm generation (acoustic and visual). For the processing of signals from pulse-based analogue detectors, the central unit
must generate an alarm only with signals longer than 400 ms. If the signal is shorter than 50 ms, it must be ignored.
Control panels. They feed the central unit with the operating status of the system. They can be electromechanical or electronic keys,
programmable keypads etc.
Signal or alarm devices. They are acoustic (indoor or outdoor sounders) or luminous (beacons). All systems designed to signal an
emergency remotely can also be considered as alarm devices.
Power supply unit. Device connected to the mains network, designed to supply DC power to the equipment and to load the accumulator
batteries that supply energy for backup power in case of voltage drop.
Interconnection. Wiring systems to connect the detectors to the central unit and the latter to the alarm devices.
Cabling with a section below 0.2 mm2 are not allowed. If the connected equipment must be supplied with electric power, the wire
section must be suitable and never below 0.5 mm2.

CHARACTERISTICS OF COMPONENTS
MAGNETIC CONTACTS
Reed contact technology.
Magnetic contacts are based on the use of reed contacts and permanent magnets. The reed contact, also called reed bulb, consists of
two thin metal laminations of ferromagnetic material (e.g. iron-nickel), with low reluctance and tightly sealed into a glass bulb, with an inert
gas atmosphere inside.
The tight sealing of the contacts protects them from dust, corrosion and oxidization, ensuring an operating life of several tens of millions
of operations.
The laminations are positioned in such a way that their ends lie opposite to each other, without touching.
When a magnetic field, for instance generated by a permanent magnet, gets close to the reed bulb, the lamination ends are charged with
opposing magnetic polarity, and when a sufficiently intense magnetic field is generated, the mutual attraction between the opposite poles
overcomes the stiffness of the laminations, bending them one against the other and closing the contact.
When the influence of the magnetic field is over, the spring effect of the lamination material separates the contact and restores the electric
conditions to the previous status.
The bulb is normally open (NO), but usually the contact status with near magnet is indicated, so you say that the contact is normally

closed (NC) with near magnet. Changeover reed contacts are also available, provided with two laminations (NO and NC) on one side and
a common pole lamination (C) on the other.
In this case, an approaching magnetic field causes the contact status to change. Changeover reed bulbs are normally less sensitive than
NO bulbs (thus, they imply shorter operating distances).
The second picture shows the operating diagram of a flush-mounting magnetic contact (however, the diagram applies to all contacts),
made up of a reed section and a magnet section. In the reed section, an anti-tampering wire is inserted to prevent violation through the
inhibition of wires. As the wire sheathes are all of the same colour, upon installation the anti-tampering wires can be identified as they are
the only wires that ensure continuity (or null resistance), when tested with a multimeter with far magnet.

Operating distances and positions
The distance at which a reed bulb changes status when a magnet approaches is always shorter than the distance at which the reed
bulb changes status when the magnet is removed. Therefore, the reed contact works in hysteresis (e.g. when the magnet approaches,
the contact closes at 10 mm distance, when the magnet moves away, the contact opens
at 13 mm distance). Distances at which the contact switches when the magnet approaches (on) and the distance at which the contact
switches when the magnet moves away (off), with the corresponding hysteresis area (hold) are illustrated in the pictures for a magnet
where the pole axis is parallel or perpendicular to the contact. The analysis of the operating distance diagrams shows that the magnetic
contact can work properly, also in different positions other than axial and parallel. However, the T position must be absolutely avoided,
as the contact cannot switch.

Factors affecting operating distance:
• Vicinity of ferromagnetic materials. The vicinity of materials like iron and steel remarkably reduces the operating distances (typically
by 50%, but it depends on the shape and type of ferromagnetic material).
• Temperature: magnetism reduces as temperature increases. At high temperature, the operating distance is reduced, while at low
temperature it increases. Under potential high temperature conditions, above all for polarized contacts with a narrow operating
range, the installation distance must be chosen accurately to avoid false alarms at high temperatures. Installing the contacts at 50%
of the maximum distance recommended, normally good results are achieved as temperature changes. The operating distances
recommended in this catalogue have ±20% tolerance and are measured at room temperature..
High-security contacts: double, triple balancing and interlaced flows
Contacts have been developed where a certain number of magnets generate magnetic fields with complex shape. Different reed bulbs
connect to these magnetic fields. The system is highly sensitive to external magnetic fields, therefore the perturbation caused by an
approaching magnet used for external violation is immediately detected, triggering the alarm. The classification of devices in order
of increasing security and according to the magnet and reed bulb configuration is the following: double balancing contacts, triple
balancing contacts and interlaced flow contacts. To achieve high performance with these contacts, also special methods for protection
against opening and/or removal are adopted.

Connection of magnetic contacts to the central unit
A single wire can be used to connect all detectors in series. It is necessary to create two separate series circuits: one for NC contacts
and one for the anti-tampering circuit. In the NC circuit, the short circuit of wires does not cause any alarm and, therefore, for specific
safety requirements, a balancing resistor must be inserted on the last contact, to obtain a balanced line (a short circuit or the parallel
connection of more resistors will change the input resistance value of the central unit, which will be read as an alarm signal).
ELECTROMECHANICAL VIBRATION DETECTORS WITH ANALYSIS UNIT
These detectors are designed for surface protection and consist of a mechanical contact made up of two sections: one is integral with
the case and the other is a mass with high inertia. When stressed, the second part tends to oscillate according to its mechanical inertia
features, causing a number of contact interruptions.
As the interruption duration is not definite, it is necessary to connect to a suitable analysis card, to allow the generation of an alarm
pulse with minimum 500 ms duration.
INERTIAL VIBRATION DETECTORS WITH ANALYSIS UNIT
These detectors are similar to the electromechanical vibration detectors, but their two or more contacts are integral with the body,
while the high-inertia mass is only touching the contacts, causing the circuit to close. Also these detectors require an analysis board.
MICROPHONE DETECTORS FOR GLASS WITH ANALYSIS UNIT
These are designed for surface protection on glazing and are basically made up of a piezoelectric microphone capsule that detects the
frequency generated by breaking glass. They must be connected to an analysis board.
OTHER TYPES OF DETECTORS

• Roller shutter lifting rope or rod detectors: detect the lifting of roller shutters/gates
• Pressure sensitive mats: to be placed under carpets and deep-pile carpet near doors or windows (at the main entrances and

ongoing aggression
• Mercury contacts: detect the achievement of a certain inclination of the surface they are mounted on (normally used on tilting doors

• Sounders and hooters for service and control. They must be equipped with battery supply, sturdy container and self-protection level
as required
• Additional sirens. Battery supply and self-protection not required.
Beacons are basically flashlights (which must emit orange light).

The price list may be changed informing the customers. in case of variations of costs and/or foreign exchange rate.
Prices do not include VAT. transport and other accessories costs.
ORDERING
Purchase orders are accepted with a minimum tax threshold of Euros 300,00.
PAYMENT TERMS
Payment must be done, unless otherwise indicated in writing, directly to the Supplier according to the terms agreed. In case of
payment delay. interest will be applied starting from expired date of invoice until the amount has been settled (Italian law Dlgs
9/12/2002 n. 231. art 5).
Payment lack allows the Supplier to interrupt the warranty and to postpone actual shipments.
SUPPLY CONTRACT DISSOLUTION
In case protests for cheques or bills should be opposed to the Buyer, executive procedures for arrangement with the creditors or
bankruptcy, the Supplier reserves the faculty to terminate the contract unilaterally, upon simply providing a written communication
to the Buyer.
DELIVERY
The delivery of products is ex-factory: Cooper Csa srl. • Via A. Meucci. 10 – 20094 Corsico (Milan) - Italy.
Contractual delivery terms for the Supplier (established in 10 working days from order receipt) are indicatives and therefore
conditional on both the production possibilities and events of force major: claims of damages due to delivery delays will not be
accepted.
If orders cannot be shipped in time the Supplier will inform the Customer of the new delivery date. Deliveries can be split.
SHIPMENT
Transport is on Purchaser’s risk even if the forwarder has been chosen by the Supplier or the delivery is CIF.
For the shipment of goods by means of a postal parcel, ad additional 5% of the cost will be charged to cover the postal packaging expenses.
In case of shipments with an economic value lower than 500 Euros (VAT excluded), or for URGENT delivery, the transportation
costs will be charged to the Buyer.
COMPLAINT
Complaints about quality, quantity, kind of products or defects must be written to the Supplier within 8 days upon receipt of the
goods. Afterwards no complaints will be accepted excluding exception of different warranty conditions of the products.
Return of goods have to be authorized in writing by the supplier.
WARRANTY
Warranty is 26 months from the delivery or shipment date and covers manufacturing defects. During warranty period products
can be replaced or repaired according to Supplier’s appraisal.
The warranty does not cover tampered products repaired by third parties or used in a not conform way.
THIRD PARTIES LIABILITY
The issuing of a purchase order by the Buyer implies accepting the responsibility to respect law and safety rules in using the
products supplied.
COMPETENT COURT
For any controversy that should arise in executing the supply contract, the competent court shall be the Court of Milan, Italy.
