EDMONDS PUBLIC FACILITIES DISTRICT/ EDMONDS CENTER FOR THE ARTS Announces the following EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: POSITION: CLOSES: EMPLOYMENT STATUS: SALARY & BENEFITS: REPORTS TO: RENTAL & STAGE MANAGER Friday, September 5, 2014 at 4:00 PM Permanent, Full Time, Exempt Salary $40,000 - $45,000 per year, DOQ, plus benefits Production Manager JOB SUMMARY: The Rental & Stage Manager is responsible for the inquiries, sales, bookings and management of all rental events at Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA). The Rental & Stage Manager is the primary point of contact with rental clients and the public regarding sales and bookings within the ECA facilities. Additionally, the Rental & Stage Manager is responsible for planning, coordination, and execution of ECA Special Events. Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Rental & Stage Manager works collaboratively and positively with renters and presented artists to facilitate performance requirements for approximately 125 theatre events each season. The Rental & Stage Manager also serves as the primary stage manager for theatre events and as an on-stage technical resource for artists and clients providing assistance with load-in, installation, operation and load-out of sets, soft goods, costumes, orchestra, sound, audio-visual, lighting and backline equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Rental Client Management Responds to rental inquiries via phone, email and in-person. Leads facility tours for prospective clients and promotes the creative use of ECA’s facilities. Negotiates all facility rental agreements and addendums as required for theatre, lobby, classroom and gymnasium events. Maintains positive, ongoing relationships and communication with rental clients. Interacts with clients to identify event requirements including but not limited to: ticketing, staff support, technical equipment and space configuration. Identifies, manages, coordinates and communicates clients’ needs to appropriate internal departments and maintains event information on shared calendar and event management software system. Provides planning support, and coordinates equipment and staffing needs for ECA special events including, but not limited to receptions, fundraisers and audience development events. Stage Work Coordinates and executes show sequences or cues as needed. Coordinates the start of performances between artists and ECA/EPFD Patron Services Manager. Loads-in, installs and works with staging, musical instrument equipment, orchestra equipment, curtains and drops, counterweight rigging system, audio, stage or A/V equipment for rehearsals and performances as needed. Supports Sound engineer and lighting director with show execution. Assists artists and clients on-stage and back stage with performance requirements and hospitality. Occasionally fills alternate stage crew positions depending upon the staffing requirements of each event. In partnership with the Production Manager, maintains a safe theatre environment for performers, crew, clients and patrons. Makes emergency and evacuation announcements under the direction of the Manager on Duty if required. Customer Service In facilitating the needs of a variety of events, this position has a high level of interaction with professional touring artists as well as community-based partners, volunteers and performers with a wide range of experience levels. Ensuring that every client has a positive and safe experience at Edmonds Center for the Arts is our highest priority. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of theatrical and event production, operations and planning. Ability to make timely and sound policy decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and time effectively. Ability to work positively and collaboratively with a diverse range of clients. Ability and willingness to work after hours and on weekends is required. Comfortable at heights on ladders, in personnel lifts or on catwalks. Familiarity with concert sound and lighting systems. Familiarity with video projection systems and associated interface with computers and/or video sources. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment. Understanding of professional theatrical etiquette and procedures. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and minimum of three years’ experience in event sales, booking and/or stage operations. Experience in management of public events Experience with event scheduling systems Experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook) Minimum five years professional experience with a combination of concert, theatrical and special event production. WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily inside in a climate controlled environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, during events noise levels may increase. Position will require daytime as well as many evening and weekend hours including, at times, additional hours beyond a standard 40-hour work week. Position involves tasks that may be considered physically demanding. Qualified candidates must be able to stand, walk or sit for extended periods. Heavy lifting, working on catwalks, ladders and lifts and working with electrical equipment are common requirements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
