Intercontinental Hotel
Park Lane, London, UK.

Lighting Designer:
DPA Lighting Design
The InterContinental hotel in London’s Park Lane has
undergone an extensive £60m refurbishment to its public areas
and rooms.
Lighting designers DPA were appointed to help bring the
hotel up to a contemporary 21st century style. The lighting
in the InterContinental works in concert with the interior
design and complements each space with appropriate
accent, subtlety or bold lighting presence.
iLight controls plays a big role in providing flexibility to these
spaces, enabling the desired ambience to be created at all times
of the day.
Equipment Installed

CRP073 - 7 button control panels
SCD24 - DMX controllers 24 channels
SCI1205S - 12 channel inductive

SCI0805S - 8 channel inductive and

SCI0405S - 4 channel inductive source

A.&.O.E.
An iLight time clock linked to the lighting control system helps
the hotel run seamlessly and an example of the clever iLight
programming can be seen with the movable partitions in the
ballroom that automatically configure control panels to large or
small room operation.
Depending on whether the partitions are in position, the iLight
software enables these various requirements to be programmed
in. Four touch-screen control panels distributed around the
ballroom enable staff to instantly set the required lighting scenes
for any configuration.
Close cooperation between lighting designer and lighting
installation was key to meeting the tight project deadlines.
“iLight again provided an exceptional service to us,” said
DPA’s Michael Curry, “especially during the important
commissioning process.”

Bank Restaurant
Helsinki, Finland.

AV Designer: Markku Myllys
Restaurant Bank is an exclusive Restaurant, Conference and Meeting
place situated in the City of Helsinki, Finland.
The facility consists of a large dining hall, a bar, brasserie restaurant
and16 meeting rooms, six of which are size manageable using partitioning
facilities. The lighting system automatically reconfigures the function of
each contol panel by detecting partition changes. The venue is capable of
handling events/parties for up to1000 people.
The centre-piece of the Restaurant area is a glass ceiling, behind which
there are colour change fittings, all controlled by iLight programmes and
control panels.
The colour change scenes are used at different times of the day and
night creating an exclusive ambience for morning, afternoon and evening
operation.

A.&.O.E.
The complex project programming took just three days and two nights to
complete, with the colour-changing ceiling posing the biggest challenge.
The client required a substantial range of colour change from clear sky
to industrial grey and from leather brown to yellow. Given the criteria of
the project along with the number of light programmes and channels
available, it was the iCan range from iLight that was able to deliver
the best result and was the product recommended and installed by
distributors Alumen of Finland.
In all, some 176 Channels of dimming are available through a variety
of the iCan Controllers as well as interface controllers. There is also an
automated time-clock system installed which changes the lighting design
at set times of the day, without the need for manual operation. The iLight
system has been configured with an option for a DMX light desk input to
accomodate entertainment lighting applications.

The iconic Emporio Armani flagship store and café on the Brompton
Road covers an amazing 11,000sq foot and after a breath-taking refit
the store now has more to offer than ever before. The designers Four
IV were challenged by the famous Italian architect Marizio Ortelli to
provide a stunning yet subtle space synonymous with the infamous
Armani brand.
Covering two floors, the stores frontage is emblazoned with the
Armani eagle logo spanning 60 feet. Shaped from bespoke LED
piping, the bird creates an impression of flight that sets this shop front
apart from the colourful retail environment of Knightsbridge.
Equipment Installed:
TC1 – 255 event time clock
TSC30 - Colour Touchscreens
CRR043 - 4 button control panels
SCD24 - DMX controller 24 channels
SCI0405S - 4 circuit inductive controller

The stores unique monotone feel is created using a combination of
dark metal ceilings and pin spot halogen down lighters. The recessed
down lights are used to highlight Armani-clad mannequins, tables in
the 65-seater restaurant and the cube-like gondolas set at various
heights from the highly polished grey marble floors.
iLight were asked to provide a fully autonomous system enabling the
subtle light treatment to morph and evolve unnoticed throughout the
day, whilst still providing a dynamic lit environment during the night.
Using a combination of their powerful 255 event time clock and
intuitive touchscreen, iLight gave Armani exactly what they required
without compromise to the stores functionality. SCI inductive and SCH
fluorescent controllers worked in parallel to accurately set dim values
to the desired levels and the SCD24 DMX controller ensured that all
LED edge lit glass and the Armani bird performed to create a beautiful
and well-considered original store

Lighting Design International
Manchester 235 is the UK’s first luxury gaming dining and live
music venue located in the heart of Manchester. Lighting designers
Lighting Design International (LDI) provided a solution to suit each
of the different gaming, dining and entertainment areas.
As the Grade II listed building prevented luminaires being attached
to the first floor columns, special acrylic tubes encapsulated the
ironwork and colour restricted LED modules provided sumptuous
blues, reds and purples. Columns on the ground floor were uplit
using low-heat halogens to accentuate textures, rivets and details.
Equipment Installed

A.&.O.E.
To control such a large number of luminaires and LED modules, LDI
entrusted iLight to provide full control of the many different areas
in the casino. With such a varied range of lighting levels required,
iLight used their expertise to provide a tailored solution that allowed
the client to change the mood and atmosphere in any area at the
touch of a button.
Using the iLight full colour touchscreen, the client can see exactly
which area they want to control, change to relevant scenes
or tweak existing lighting levels and colours without extensive
recommissioning costs.

Cinema
Pathe Tuschinski
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Tuschinski is a huge, Art Deco cinema palace conveniently located
between the Munt tower and the Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam.
Built by the immigrant from Poland Abraham Icek Tuschinski,
the cinema opened in 1921 and it remains until today with its Art
Deco interior one of the most cherished buildings in Amsterdam.
Tuschinski has been thoroughly modernized and is today one of the
release cinemas in the city.
During its 4 year restoration, the cinema was given an electrical
overhaul which included an iLight control system. There are 40.000
LED’s in the cinema controlled by 3 iLight SCD24 DMX controllers.
20.000 of which are white LED’s and the others are yellow.

Every light fitting has approx. 30 White LEDs and 30 Yellow LEDS.
The system allows control of the colours individually to create a
range of bright and warm light throughout.
With the use of iLight UIGs, the projector is linked directly to the
lighting control system allowing the control of the lights automatically
from the operation of the projector. The lights can also be manually
controlled by several push-button panels.
As well as the main theatre, iLight’s system was used to control all
the light fittings in the rest of the building, VIP room, dining room,
entrance area with its colour changing ceiling and the outdoor
lighting.
