Real-time measurements of electrical parameters, such as voltage variations or distortions, can be transmitted via networks to operators, warning of breaches in threshold limits. Power quality information improves on-site efficiency and eases negotiation with utility companies and energy authorities. NHP supplies energy management systems that provide information for operators to identify consumption trends and take corrective actions. By analysing the power profile operators can also aggregate loads and negotiate more favourable terms with the utility company. Real time power consumption monitoring also allows a site manager to anticipate overload conditions that would, for example, trip a circuit breaker and cause costly downtime. Alarm thresholds can be set to warn managers if preset limits are reached. Armed with this system loading and status information, managers can organise remedial action in a timely manner. The NHP Sustainability Centre At NHP we are committed to understanding and minimising any adverse impacts our operations and our products have on the environment. Our very own Sustainability Centre is located adjacent to our existing National Manufacturing and Distribution Centre in Laverton, Melbourne. The centre demonstrates a variety of sustainable energy technologies including: • Horizontal axis wind generators • Photovoltaic solar modules • Grid interactive solar systems • Off-grid systems • Dual axis tracker • Energy Management & control systems 4 This significant project ensures NHP are at the forefront of the sustainable industry direction and are a leader in providing alternative energy solutions for commercial and industrial applications. NHP’s Sustainability Centre encourages the use of alternative energy solutions and demonstrates what is possible with sustainable energy technologies. Energy efficiency codes, initiatives, systems and mechanisms: NABERS NABERS is a national rating system that measures the environmental performance of Australian buildings, tenancies and homes. NABERS measures the energy efficiency, water usage, waste management and indoor environment quality of a building or tenancy and its impact on the environment and its performance is rated on a 1-6 star scale. Building Code of Australia Section J Section J deals with energy efficiency requirements of the Building Code of Australia for class 2 to 9 BCA standard definition buildings. The main objective of the BCA Section J is to reduce the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions of a building by reducing the amount of energy it requires for its normal operation. Carbon Pricing Mechanism: The carbon pricing mechanism is an emissions trading scheme that puts a price on Australia’s carbon pollution. It was introduced by the clean energy legislation and applies to Australia’s biggest carbon emitters (called liable entities). Under the mechanism, liable entities must pay a price for the carbon emissions they produce each year. NGERS The National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGERS) Scheme was introduced in 2007 to provide data and accounting in relation to greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption and production. The scheme’s legislated objectives are to: underpin the carbon price mechanism; inform policy-making and the Australian public; meet Australia’s international reporting obligations; and provide a single national reporting framework for energy and emissions reporting. EEO Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO) is a mandatory Federal Government initiative requiring businesses using more than 0.5 petajoules of energy each year to assess and report opportunities that may improve the efficiency of their energy use. Green Star Green Star is a national, voluntary, holistic environmental rating system that evaluates the environmental design and construction of buildings and communities. Green Star rating tools help the property industry to reduce the environmental impact of buildings, improve occupant health and productivity and achieve real cost savings, while showcasing innovation in sustainable building practices. CBD Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD) is a national program designed to improve the energy efficiency of Australia’s large office buildings. Under the Building Energy Efficiency Disclosure Act 2010, there are mandatory obligations applicable to many commercial buildings. Most sellers or lessors of office space of 2,000 square metres or more are required to obtain and disclose a current Building Energy Efficiency Certificate (BEEC). A BEEC is comprised of: a NABERS Energy star rating for the building; an assessment of tenancy lighting in the area of the building that is being sold or leased; and general energy efficiency guidance. NMI M6 As of the 1st January 2013 the exemption on meters used for sub-billing applications was lifted. This exemption had previously allowed meters used for sub-billing applications, to be used without Pattern Approval, as required for utility meters. This means that, anywhere a meter or sub-meter is used for trade, sub-billing, or any direct fiscal purpose, NMI Pattern Approved meters must be used. This change brings all meters used in applications mentioned above into line with the “National Measurement Act of 1960” Therefore supplying, selling or installing a meter into an application known to be for trade is an offence and carries the heavy penalties associated with the “National Measurements Act 1960”. 5 Scan the QR code to view Terminations & Wiring Systems brochures. A series of links allows access to the real time data of each instrument Ordering details: Base software package Part No: POWERSOFT Real time display Each instrument has a 4-page section where its real time data can be examined in different ways: as analogue indicators; analytically in a complete table including all the variables and the utility meters; by means of a Fresnell diagram. It is possible to check the status of the digital inputs and check or switch the digital output for test purposes or to remotely act on an external device. A table which displays at the same time all the data from up to 5 instruments per page is available, allowing the user to carry out a simple and immediate data comparison. Ordering details: Base software package Part No: POWERSOFT Trends monday, october A selectable set of variables (different from instrument to instrument) can be stored in the PowerSoft database with a selectable time interval to build up a history of the installation. All the data can be analysed later on in both graphical and analytical format and exported in various formats (wmf, csv, xls). Up to 4 variables (from the same or from different instruments) can be displayed and compared at the same time. With simple and intuitive procedures it is also possible to zoom the graph or analyse it in detail with a cursor, freely choosing the time period to be displayed. Ordering details: Base software package Part No: POWERSOFT 43 Costs estimation Powersoft allows estimation of costs relevant to a selected period, due to the energy, water and gas consumption. This is useful for performing the cost allocation among the monitored lines, monitoring the daily trend of the consumption or to identify the reasons of any penalty. • Base package required for all optional add-ons Optional add-on for cost estimation; Part No: PWSBILL/PWSTARIFF Statistical analysis PowerSoft carries out statistical analysis on the power trends and energy consumption by extrapolating the demand of each day of the week, the week-based consumption trends and the estimation of the ideal installed power for each tariff, calculated with a selectable confidence level. All this information is aimed to build-up an optimised load profile so to negotiate a better contract with the utility supplier. To improve the reliability of the analysis, any data with abnormal consumptions due to external events can be filtered and removed, as well as the weekends and the holidays. Optional add-on for statistical analysis; Part No: PWSAnalysis Alarms and events An active alarms window advises the user if a setpoint has been exceeded or if a communication error is present. A proper database allows access to the list of events (login, logout, startup, alarm acknowledgment, etc.) and alarms (setpoints, communication errors, missing data storage, etc.). The alarm can be software based, being displayed in the Active alarms windows and stored in the Alarms and events log, or hardware-based, switching the digital output of the instrument displaying the anomaly. This powerful tool allows the operator to monitor any anomalies in the installation and the loads in real time, and plan any maintenance actions, thus avoiding possible damages to the loads or expensive stopping of machinery. Optional add-on for alarms and events; Part No: PWSAlarm Internet connectivity PowerSoft has an automatic e-mailing module, option which provides notification of the electrical system status to one or more e-mail addresses. The e-mailing can be carried out on regular basis or be sent at the occurrence of a defined alarm or event. In cost-sharing applications, the energy bill of each final user can be sent to his e-mail box, while the administrator can receive the consumption summary for each customer. The web-server module allows remote access using a standard browser without additional licenses, in order to view realtime information and historical data from any location. Optional add-on for internet connectivity; Part No: PWSmail / PWSWeb 44 Energy management FT EnergyMetrix FactoryTalk® EnergyMetrix softwear is a modular, scalable, web-enabled, client/server energy information, and management application.
