Title: Standard Electrical Symbols
There are a few codes of practices and Singapore Standards that standardize the use of
electrical symbols for computer-aided design. There are as listed below:
a. SS 202 : Part 7 and 8 : 1999, and
b. CP 83 : Part 2 : 2000.
The code and standards recommends a common set of symbols to be used by all parties in the
building industry in the preparation of drawings. This will eventually:
 provide a standard set of 2D graphical symbols to represent entities of building components
for the building industry,
 facilitate common understanding and interpretation of information in drawings by different
users of building industry, and
 facilitate easy and efficient exchange of information.
