powergeneration,theneedfor
environmentally-friendlyandsustainable
componentsandtheliberalisationofthe
energymarkets.Electricalsustainable
energyengineersareneededinorderto
designnewcomponentswithaneye
towardssustainablematerialsandefficient
conversionprocesses,aswellasto
integratethemintoasmartandadaptable
electricityinfrastructure.
TheMasterofScienceprogrammein
ElectricalEngineeringatTUDelftoffersthe
track:ElectricalSustainableEnergy.

awiderangeofissues,includingrenewable
energy,smartgrids,environmentally
friendlymaterialtechnologies,the
decentralisationofpowergeneration,
power-systemsoperations,power
electronicsandelectricalmachines.The

High-VoltageLaboratory,theSustainable
EnergyLaboratory:DENlab,aReal-Time
DigitalSimulatorandthePowerProcessing

storageinDCnetworksandsystemsand
futureDCtransmissiongrid.Examples
includeexcitingapplicationssuchas
smartcitieswithDCmicro-gridsand
renewableenergysourcessuchassolar
andwindenergyandenergystoragein
theformofelectricvehicles.The
integrationofrenewableenergyviaDr
PavolBauer,DCSystems&StorageDC
networksofferslowercostandhigher
efficiencyasmostofthesourcesand
loadsarehavingDCcharacter.Charging
electricvehiclesdirectlyfrom
photovoltaicenergy,theimpactofEmobilityonthegridandsolutionsfor
contactlesscharging(stationaryandon
road)ofelectricvehiclesaresolutionsfor
smartcitiesofthefuture.Storageplays
animportantroleinfuturesmartcitiesin
theformofelectricvehiclesbutalso
beyond.Understandingdifferentstorage
optionsandtheirbehaviourisessential
forthesystemintegrationofrenewable

diagnostics&monitoringandHigh
VoltageDCMaterials&Componentsare
alsoinvestigatedandexperimentally
testedinHVthelaboratory.TheDC&S
groupiswellconnectedtotheindustry
withalargenumberofnationaland
internationalresearchprojects,which
offerstudentspossibilitytojointhe
researchteamandcontributetoafuture
sustainabledevelopment.
