My research has been in probability theory and its applications. My thesis was on martingales and was written under the supervision of Professor J. L. Doob. I worked with
Professors John G. Kemeny and Gerald Thompson to develop a new course at Dartmouth:
Finite Mathematics . Most of my research has dealt with Markov chains. John G. Kemeny and I investigated connections between Markov chain theory and potential theory and developed new ways to compute fundamental descritiptive quantities for Markov chains.

More recently, I have worked with Professor Peter Doyle on connections between Markov chains and electric networks.
