management for the Ciena CN 4200
Optical networks are the foundation for all wide-area network (WAN) transport technologies, making

Channel and EMC® Symmetrix® Remote Data Facility (SRDF®) over the CN 4200’s DWDM capability).

EMC Smarts® helps service providers and enterprises address the complexities associated with managing multi-technology networks. EMC Smarts Service Assurance Manager helps alleviate traditional
“silo-based” management by aggregating relevant and important information from all EMC Smarts
network-domain-specific management products, as well as by integrating to trouble-ticketing and
service desk applications. The addition of EMC Smarts Business Impact Manager provides the ability
to align and map IT services delivered and business processes supported to the network infrastructure
on which these depend.
Integration of the Ciena CN 4200 product family with the EMC Smarts product family enables true
end-to-end network visibility and business impact. With EMC Smarts solutions rapidly determining the
root cause of problems within the CN 4200 optical infrastructure and identifying potential impacted
services and customers, enterprises and service providers can immediately take remedial action
necessary resolve the problem, which in turn restores service delivery more quickly.
