The Registered Training Organisation (RTO) provides training across a range of
Industry Skills Councils (ISC) and funded programs. Training and Assessment (TAE)
qualification is required for all VERTO trainers who deliver and assess nationally
recognised training.
Foundation Skills in the context of this position relates to entry level qualifications
across a range of training packages such as Business, Retail, Hospitality, Transport
and Logistics as well as the Foundations Skills Training Package that may be used by
VERTO to deliver both Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and entry level
Vocational skills to clients.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION
The Trainer/Assessor Foundation Skills delivers LLN and Foundation Skills training and
assessment in support of students developing skills for education and employment.
IMPACT ON THE BUSINESS
The performance of the Trainer/Assessor Foundations Skills has a major impact on
customer satisfaction with Foundation Skills training delivery; on the ongoing
compliance to National Vocational Standards (NVR) and Skills for SEE contractual
guidelines; and growth of Foundation Skills delivery to achieve the RTO Business Plan.
Key Accountabilities
The Trainer/Assessor Foundation Skills is responsible for performing work in a manner
that at all times complies with:
• The National Vocational Registration Standards (NVR) required of VERTO as a
Registered Training Organisation
• RTO Services procedures and systems
• VERTO directions, policies and procedures in relation to Workplace Health &
Safety
• Policies and practices that ensure that all students, clients, customers, members of
the public and VERTO employees are treated in a way that doesn’t discriminate
against them
• All other VERTO policies.
1. Training & Assessment Delivery
• Prepare for and deliver training and assessment services in accordance with
RTO requirements to meet all Standards for National Registration (SNR)
• Develop flexible learning strategies to assist students with barriers to learning
• Conducting assessments determining clients LLN competencies across all five
core skills in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)

Conform to the workplace policies and practices for Workplace Health and
Safety
Report all accidents and incidents to VERTO Foundation Skills Coordinator
using VERTO procedure and documentation
Manage student inquiries or complaints in a timely and effective manner
2. Administration
• Maintain all assessment and training paperwork to RTO requirements
• Enter data outcomes and return all completed paperwork to the Administration
office in a timely manner and ensure SEE contractual requirements are met
• Enrol students directly via Online system
• Complete all activity reporting requirements of program
3. Quality
• Regularly monitor and evaluate the delivery of training to ensure excellent
support and service to participants, and to maximise successful outcomes
• Ensure all Foundation Skills training delivery meets SNR’s and contractual
requirements of the SEE and or other programs
• Maintain the VERTO’s currency of knowledge in relevant Training Packages
and industry knowledge and developments
4. Stakeholder Relationships
• Develop and maintain effective networking relationship with key referral
agencies such as the Department of Human Services (DHS), Job Service,
Disability Employment Service and Remote Jobs and Communities service
providers to ensure sustainable client referrals to program are maintained
• Maintain relationship with employers to ensure Foundation Skills delivery meets
labour market needs
5. Teamwork
• Work in the best interest and for the betterment of VERTO
• Work as part of the VERTO wide team
• Provide timely and accurate data and reports when required
• Other duties as directed
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
• Undergraduate Degree of 3 year duration and:
o Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) including a unit
in LLN skills and at least 100 hours teaching English as a Second
Language (ESL) or Adult Literacy/Numeracy in the last three years
And
o a specialist Adult Literacy qualification - including but not limited to,
emerging foundation skills courses recognised by the Australian Skills
Quality Authority (ASQA) and any LLN Scholarships courses funded by
the department
Or
o a specialist Adult Literacy qualification - including but not limited to,
emerging foundation skills courses recognised by the Australian Skills

Languages (TESOL) qualification
• Current NSW Drivers Licence
• Vocational Qualifications highly reqarded

National Regulation (SNR) & their implications for the delivery of training.

• Workplace Health and Safety legislation
