Happy New Year! I am excited to introduce myself
as JBT FoodTech’s Director of Customer Service.
I have built my career with the company over 18
years. In my new role, I’m proud to join a dedicated
team of over 70 Field Service Technicians, Customer
Service Representatives, Project Coordinators and
other aftermarket staff. Together, we manage
the parts and service for an active install base
of approximately 4,000 DSI, Stein, Double D,
Frigoscandia and Northfield systems.

JBT PRoTHERM Select is a food grade, heat transfer fluid designed for high performance
in liquid phase heat transfer systems at sustained operating temperatures up to 600 ˚F.

Formula 491 – Antiwear high-temperature H1
food-grade lubricant
JBT FoodTech Formula 491 is a customblended, high-temperature, food-grade H1
lubricating oil, formulated specifically for use
in JBT FoodTech Stein GYRoCOMPACT®
Ovens. It is intended to reduce down-time,
extend component and equipment life and
generally provide smooth, trouble free
operation. A carefully selected and balanced
additive package provides a low-depositing,
worry free lubricant with a high flash point of
482 °F (250 °C), exceptional wear protection
and unsurpassed thermal and oxidative
stability. The extremely low volatility maximizes
“dwell time”, increases the time available for
the lubricant to migrate to critical friction
points and reduces lubricant consumption.

Formula 499 is an inert, ashless synthetic

®
Latest technology in controlled, state-of the-art controls
for high humidity oven cooking

The Humitrol senses the water vapor in the
oven’s atmosphere. It measures oven
humidity on a scale of 0 to 100 percent MV
(moisture by volume) at any temperature
above 212 ˚F / 100 ˚C. The MV percentage
is the volume of water vapor in the oven
atmosphere at a temperature above the
boiling point. Valves of MV are independent
of oven temperature and do not rely on “wet

New Stein Kits
Viking Brand PD Pumps
JBT is now offering seal and full rebuild kits for Viking brand PD pumps found on many
Stein fryers and filters. These customized kits include seals, gaskets and other key
components that when incorporated into your preventative maintenance program can
ensure that your pumps will run longer and more efficiently. Each kit contains an installation
guide and all required hardware to make installation easy and painless. Utilizing these kits
will greatly increase the life of your pumps and will save you time, money and downtime that
would usually be associated with replacing an entire pump.
Blue Plastics
In continuation of our constant improvements,
JBT will be phasing out white UHMW, nylon
and acetyl components in 2014 and will
be replacing them with equivalent blue
alternatives. Due to the nature of their visual
detectability, blue plastics are becoming a
common food processing requirement.

The beginning of a New Year can bring an excellent opening to renew safety and hygiene
programs. While unintentional, during the course of a busy year, there are ample opportunities
for maintenance to take a lesser priority to production throughput. Before you know it, a
safety relay is jumped, a guard is missing, a label has been removed or new staff members
have joined the team. In addition to safety, as equipment ages, hygiene can also be impacted.
Again, before you know it a CIP circuit is missing, a floor is cracked, a belt is worn or
controls are obsolete. Now, is the best time to determine if you have all the right tools in
