V8 JMBD-007 Plant Operator Single Machine Courses Short Course Overview Journey Management Group (JMG) can offer our team of experienced assessors to conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) and Single Machine Category training with minimal disruption to work flow, usually conducted at your work site. Implementing a VOC program can: Increase safety Increase productivity Reduce maintenance costs Minimize equipment damage The 2012 National Workplace Health and Safety Legislation (introduced on 1st January 2012) requires all employers to take reasonable and practical steps to ensure the competency of their staff for the work they perform. This includes the operation of workplace plant and equipment. Description Underpinning Knowledge Module This 3 hour theory module covers important safety and operational practices that underpin all machine categories. This module is designed to upskill the operator’s knowledge and allows for enhanced practical training during the machine operator phase (see 1 – 2 day sessions). The individual should have some industry experience and preferably hold the Construction Induction Card, however this is not mandatory. Machine Modules The following single machine categories are available: RIIMP0321D Conduct civil construction wheeled front end loader operations RIIMPO304D Conduct wheeled loader operations RIIMP0319D Conduct backhoe loader operations RIIMP0318D Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations RIIMP0320D Conduct civil construction excavator operations RIIMP0317D Conduct roller operations RIIMPO337D Conduct articulated haul truck operations* RIIMPO323D Conduct civil construction dozer operations* RIIMPO324D Conduct civil construction grader operations* RIIMPO325D Conduct civil operation scraper operations* RIIHAN308D Load and Unload Plant Excavator Skid Steer Loader Roller Wheeled Front End Loader Backhoe Loader © Journey Management Group Pty Ltd (ABN 83 100 103 491 T.O. V8 JMBD-007 Plant Operator Single Machine Courses (Cont.) Short Course Session Types 2 Day (plus 3 - 4 hours for Underpinning Knowledge Module) This two day training course, designed for non-experienced plant operators, is aimed at qualifying the participant within the relevant unit of competency (UOC) for the selected machine category. This course addresses the required skills and knowledge for operators working within civil construction on a single machine category. 1 Day (plus 3 - 4 hours for Underpinning Knowledge Module) This one day training course, designed for experienced plant operators, is aimed at qualifying the operator within the relevant UOC for the selected machine category. As this course is delivered over a single day, it relies on the participant having existing experience and skill on the machine category (or a similar machine category where transferable skills can assist with training requirements). The course is designed to provide the additional knowledge and skills required to gain the relevant UOC. Verification of Competency (VOC) Assessment This four hour competency assessment, designed for experienced plant operators only, is aimed at qualifying the participant within the UOC for the selected machine category. As the VOC is assessment only, the participant must have proven industry experience and should hold the Construction Induction Card, however this is not mandatory. Whilst based on the individual machine UOC’s, our VOC assessments can be developed to meet employer competency requirements and can be tailored to suit your availability and work schedules. Definitions An "Experienced Operator" is an individual who has current knowledge and skills in the machine category they are to be enrolled into. Only Experienced Operators are to be enrolled onto the 1 Day Machine Courses and Machine VOC (unit and non-unit based) Assessments. A “Non Experienced Operator” is an individual with no or inadequate knowledge or skills in the machine category they are to be enrolled into. All non-experienced operators are to be enrolled into the 2 or 5 Day Plant courses. VOC is about being pro-active rather that re-active when identifying competency levels and gaps in competency of your workforce. This allows for effective rectification through relevant training ensuring your workplace is safe and on the cutting edge of quality.
