Community Curator – Idea Collective
Reports to:
Digital Experience Coordinator
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Community Curator is responsible for the operational delivery of digital communications and is accountable for
driving the development and delivery of all aspects of community involvement around the Idea Collective at MOTAT.
This is an integral position in moving the Museum towards delivering our strategy and showcasing MOTAT as a
centre of innovation and is accountable for ensuring engagement with our new target audience for this installation
(16-29 and 40+) are emotionally engaged, challenged and visit the Idea Collective installation and associated events.
RESPONSIBILITIES
 Using the digital communication strategy for The Idea Collective, plan and implement high-impact, create social
media campaigns addressing the key areas of information, promotion and community engagement for the
installation and innovation community.
 Create and manage engaging, professional online content including written material, video and images on
relevant innovation topics across multiple platforms.
 Maximise user generated content for increased social engagement across the community.
 Provide live social coverage during events aligned with the Idea Collective.
 Identify and leverage Key Opinion Leaders (KOL’s) to ensure reach and growth of the community.
 Represent the Idea Collective at MOTAT at external events, ensuring relationships in the innovation community
are made.
 Coordinate the development of the Idea Collectives initiatives and events to assist in creating new USP’s for
MOTAT.
 Ensure the effective delivery of initiatives and events programmes that are aligned to the aims of the Idea
Collective and the achievement of the Museum’s Annual Plan and Strategy.
 Work closely with the wider Museum Experience hub to ensure the Idea Collective initiatives and Events are
aligned with other MOTAT experiences and events.
 Build strong relationships and innovative partnerships with others that work in are associated with or who have
access to the Idea Collective’s target market.
 Liaise with the Marketing & Communications team to coordinate the identification of the various visitor groups to
ensure synergy between this team and the Idea Collective.
 Provide reporting and analytics on online and social presence.
 Take accountability, on behalf of the Idea Collective for the prompt resolution of any feedback, complaints or

customer issues.
 Ensure that the necessary internal and external approvals / agreements are sought, gained and implemented for
all Idea Collective events that are delivered at MOTAT.
 Ensure that Health, Safety & Security is an integral element of experience of all Idea Collective initiatives.
 Model behaviour consistent with MOTAT values.
 Follow all museum policies and procedures including but not limited to Health, Safety & Security and the
Museums Aotearoa’s Code of Ethics.
 Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be required to ensure that MOTAT’s business objectives are met.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
 Manage the Idea Collective microsite to ensure appropriate content is available on a daily basis for the duration
of this contract.
 Implement and report on the brand engagement on a weekly basis for the Idea Collective for the duration of this
contract.
 Facilitate and develop live social media coverage of the Idea Collectives events calendar.
 Integrate the Idea Collective operations to ensure seamless delivery of content and experiences with the
Museums events teams and associated external contractors on an as required basis.
 Ensure digital platforms are enhanced and available to grow the Idea Collective Community and report on such
on a weekly basis.
 Monitor and report on the weekly analysis of social media uptake and report to the Idea Collective team on a
weekly basis.
 Identify and report on upcoming social media trends, platforms and analytic, particularly around emerging best
practise and passing trends on a weekly basis.
 Coordination of both internal and external stakeholders to utilise social media channels for campaigns and
discussion and reporting of such on a weekly basis.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
 Minimum 2-4 years experience in social media curation and/or community activation.
 Proven ability to write engaging and relevant Blogs and creative content.

 Experience with WordPress or an equivalent CMS.
 Proven experience in Customer Management Services.
 Proven experience in the development and reporting on relevant analytics.
 Experience in Event planning and coordination experience with a drive for creativity.
 High levels of both written and verbal skills, including presentation skills.
 Interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to relate to people at all levels and an ability to develop positive
working relationships.
 Demonstrated project management experience.
 Excellent administrative and time management skills.
 Demonstrated skills in handling changing and competing demands on time.
 Demonstrated enthusiasm and passion for delivering the potential behind the Idea Collective.
 Proven understanding and passion for the implementation of the MOTAT strategy.
