Ordering Information
The REL is a high intensity bidirectional light used at runway edge locations
where it is impractical to use an elevated light. It is used where taxiways
intersect the runway and any other
runway edge location subject to direct
aircraft or vehicle impact. Normally, the
115 watt lamp version is used to optically match FAA L-862 elevated edge
lights.
How to Order: Select the number of
leads to match the number of isolation
transformers to be used. Choose the
letter to match the FAA base size to
be installed. Add designations for the
lamp wattage and colors.The orientation of the color symbols determines
the optical beam toe-in.
Examples:
An 850C2-C-115-CC is clear in both
directions and mounts on a 14.25 inch
bolt circle base. It uses two 100 watt
isolation transformers for its two 115
watt lamps.
An 850C1-B-115-YC mounts on an
11.25 inch bolt circle base. It has two
115 watt lamps with a yellow filter on
the left toe-in side. It requires a single
200 watt isolation transformer.

Beam orientation is achieved by the fixture casting bolt drilling pattern. Light bases are installed with any two
opposite bolt holes perpendicular to the runway centerline.
The beam orientation is not field adjustable.
There are two threaded holes 180˚ apart perpendicular to the centerline for attachment of lifting handle 19999.
Install shallow base using setting jig 19583 (for base with light mounted) or 19583-2 (for base only).

The PAPI system provides the pilot a positive visual indication of the aircraft’s position
relative to the optimal glide slope during
final approach to the runway.
How to Order: Construct the basic
catalog number based on the number of
units per system and the power lamp
available. Order isolation transformer,
primary connector kits and threaded
sleeves anchor separately.
The PAPI system consists of four units in a
line or bar, each unit having two or three
200 watt lamps. The PAPI unit produces a
beam of light, the upper portion being white,
the lower red.As the pilot’s vertical position
changes, the color of the light as seen by the
pilot changes instantaneously. An heliport
APAPI system consists of two units, installed
symmetrical to the helipad axis, on the
opposite side of the landing direction.

Features
Optical assembly:
- Outer Fresnel lens: heat resistant clear
glass, to optimise the horizontal
candlepower distribution.The inner surface
of the lens is prismatic, the outer is
completely smooth, for easy maintenance.
- Inner Fresnel lens: clear glass.When
required, the lens will consist of two 180˚
pieces, one or both coloured.
Body: the die-cast aluminium body, is
provided with suitable support for the
lamp. On request, the body can be supplied
in a special version to allow the daymarker
cone installation.
Lens plate: die-cast aluminium.The outer
lens is fixed to the plate by three stainless
steel plates with silicone gasket; the inner
lens is mounted on the plate with
neoprene gasket and upper securing block.
The lens plate is hinged to the body and
secured by a stainless steel clamping spring.
Column: the body is balance on a die-cast
aluminium slipfilter and fixed to it by means
of four levelling screws.The slipfitter is
provided with a breakable groove, meeting
FAA Specs, with lower 2” male thread.
After correct aiming on the horizontal
plane, the slipfitter must be locked by
means of a galvanized steel threaded ring
nut.

The CSS Circuit Selector Switch(es)
are used to feed up to four series
circuits, separately or according to
required combinations, by means of
one constant current regulator. Some
typical application are alternately feed
PAPI systems, two approach systems,
stopbars, and taxiway centreline
circuits.
The CSS can be used as the interface
between a standby regulator and
several operating regulators.
Features

Two standard types of metal clad
selectors are produced:
– for mounting on the relevant
constant current regulator;
– for wall mounting (see a
pictures).

The circuit selector consists of a
line of two or more normally
open contactors on the
secondary of the constant
current regulator and connected
to the series circuits (6.6 or 20
amperes); by closing a contactor
the relevant circuit is by-passed.
For alternate individual feeding of
different series circuits one
contactor only remains open at a
time; the regulator unit must be
rated in accordance with the
highest possible circuit load.

a particular location on an airfield or heliport.Wind cones
are commonly supplied with a single obstruction light and
four floodlights to illuminate the windsock.The customer

Wind sock: is made of lightweight synthetic fabric as a
truncated cone 0.90m maximum, 0.45m minimum diameter, 3.75m long for airport wind cone and 0.60m maximum, 0.30 minimum diameter, 2.40m long for heliport
wind cone. Are available in two colours: orange or red
and white (stripes).
Revolving frame: an aluminium pipe with a robust aluminium structure, holding the sock open; it is on roller
bearings for free rotation.
Outside lighting assembly: (only for lighted wind cone
versions) consist of a supporting pipe with a connection
box on the top, to which four steel arms are fixed, ending
with lampholers.
Obstruction lights: if required a single obstruction light
or a double obstruction light, with 54W 220V lamp (lone
life type), is mounted on the top of wind cone.
Mounting pole: polygonal section, is made of galvanized
steel sheet, complete with base flange.The connection box
is fixed to the mounting pole.
Lowering device: it permits the lowering of the wind
cone for the easy and secure maintenance of the lighting

Ordering Information
AIRSIDE TM signs are designed for use on
airport taxiways to mark taxi routes and
intersections.Yellow signs with black
legends are used to provide location and
destination information. Red signs with
white numerals are used to mark
intersection with runways.The red sign is a
warning not to proceed onto or across a
runway without proper clearance.
These signs are designed for use on airport
series circuits with or without intensity
control.
How to Order: List the basic catalog
number indicating sign size and single or
double face configuration. Add dash
number for sign length, 3 or 5 step
intensity control and wind loading. Indicate
color.To determine sign length to fit your
message contact Crouse-Hinds. Order
isolation transformer, transformer housing,
cover plate and gasket, and connector kit
separately.

Size 3, double face sign, 42” long for use on
a 1 or 3 step series circuit.The sign is
designed for FAA Mode 1, wind speeds
from 100 up to 200 MPH. One side is
yellow, the other red, no retroreflective
material.
The basic catalog number specifies all hardware
which is above ground. Below ground hardware (See
