Question
Are you aware of Vallco Shopping Mall’s housing
project?
What is the timing of this?
Are the lights timed on San Tomas? They are
timed on Lawrence. You have to speed to make
it through the lights on San Tomas.
The area does not have efficient transportation.
It is not geared to transit, only cars.
Is there enforcement on the HOV Lanes? It does
not seem that anyone gets a ticket.
Staff Answer
Yes. It is included as part of Cupertino’s General
Plan.
The project will be meeting with the Policy
Advisory Board in March 2015 to discuss the list
of projects and how to prioritize them. The draft
plan will be out in June 2015. As a reminder, this
is a planning document with no funding. A
section of the plan will have a funding and
implementation section. The importance of the
plan is to identify projects to apply for grants.
Grants can only be awarded to projects that are
in plans.
When traffic occurs, the demand can adjust the
signal timing. Traffic engineering staff was
present to assist with additional details regarding
the signal timing.
The County does not run transit but will
accommodate transit plans in our plan. The VTA’s
(transit provider) Transit Plan does not include
any transit expansion on San Tomas and
Lawrence
Enforcement is an issue and we have to work on
this for the HOV lanes.
