1 - Safety information
Important safety information
WARNING : This unit contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not
open the housing or attempt any maintenance by yourself. In the
unlikely even your unit may require service, please contact your
nearest dealer.
This unit is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it in a wet,
or extremely cold/hot locations. Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to
this product or other property.
Any maintenance procedure must be performed by a CONTEST
authorised technical service. Basic cleaning operations must thoroughly follow our safety instructions.
This product contains non-isolated electrical components. Do not
undertake any maintenance operation when it is switched on as it
may result in electric shock.
Symbols used
In order to avoid any electrical malfunction, please do not use any
multi-socket, power cord extension or connecting system without
making sure they are perfectly isolated and present no defect.
Warning
This product is equipped with Class 2 LEDs.
Please avoid looking directly at the beam as it may cause
severe eye injuries.
This symbol signals an important safety precaution.
Recycling your device
The WARNING symbol signals a risk to the user’s physical integrity.
The product may also be damaged.
The CAUTION symbol signals a risk of product deterioration.

Do not use this product in rain, or near washbasins or other wet locations.
6 - Installation :
We strongly encourage you to only use a fixation system or support recommended
by the manufacturer or supplied with this product. Carefully follow the installation
instructions and use the adequate tools.
Always ensure this unit is firmly fixed to avoid vibration and slipping while operating
as it may result in physical injury.
7 - Ceiling or wall installation :
Please contact your local dealer before attempting any ceiling or wall installation.
8 - Ventilation :
The cooling vents ensure a safe use of this product, and avoid any overheating risk.
Do not obstruct or cover these vents as it may result in overheating and potential
physical injury or product damage. This product should never been operated in a
closed non-ventilated area such as a flight case or a rack, unless cooling vents are
provided for the purpose.
9 - Heat exposure :
Sustained contact or proximity with warm surfaces may cause overheating and product
damages. Please keep this product away from any heat source such as a heaters,
amplifiers, hot plates, etc...

10 - Electric power supply :
This product can only be operated according to a very specific voltage. These
information are specified on the label located at the rear of the product.
11 - Power cords protection:
Power-supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or
pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at
lugs, convenience receptacles and the point where they exit from the fixture.
12 - Cleaning precautions :
Unplug the product before attempting any cleaning operation. This product should be
cleaned only with accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Use a damp cloth
to clean the surface. Do not wash this product.
13 - Long periods of non use :
Disconnect the unit’s main power during long periods of non use.
14 - Liquids or objects penetration :
Do not let any object penetrate this product as it may result in electric shock or fire.
Never spill any liquid on this product as it may infiltrate the electronic components
and result in electric shock or fire.
15 - This product should be serviced when :
Please contact the qualified service personnel if :
- The power cord or the plug has been damaged.
- Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the appliance.
- The appliance has been exposed to rain or water.
- The product does not appear to operate normally.
- The product has been damaged.
16 - Inspection/maintenance :
Please do not attempt any inspection or maintenance by yourself. Refer all servicing
to qualified personnel.
17 - Operating environment :
Ambient temperature and humidity: +5 - +35°C, relative humidity must be less than
85% (when cooling vents are not obstructed).
Do not operate this product in a non-ventilated, very humid or warm place.

2 - Introduction
The PILOT TOUCH is a 3-channel power and control DMX interface.
This controller allows you to control 3 DMX channels. Channels 1, 2, 3 (Red, Green, Blue) are repeated
up to 512 (e.g. channel 1 (red) also affects channel 4, 7, 10, 13 ... 510).
It also allows you to connect it directly to some RGB projectors (such as the COLORTAPE) to control
them.
The power limit depends on the power supply unit with a maximum of 48W at 24V, DC.

1 - Standby button

8 - «LINK IN» input allowing to transmit the signal from another PILOT TOUCH
9 - «DMX OUT» output to connect any DMX device. Please connect the supplied power supply unit (12V, DC
500mA) to the GND and V+ sockets to use your device in DMX mode.
10 - «DC IN» input allowing you to connect your 24V DC or 48V DC power supply unit and directly connect
your PILOT TOUCH to your (48W max.) projector.
«PWM» output to power up your COLORTAPE, within the limit of 48W at 24V (approximately 5m of COLORTAPE ribbons with the POW242 power supply unit).
11 - «LINK OUT» output to daisy-chain an extra PILOT TOUCH.
12 - Drilled holes to fix your PILOT TOUCH to a wall. Two holes are availables at the rear. They can be
accessed by loosening the two side screws.

4 - Installation
Your PILOT touch can be operated as any standard DMX interface and control a DMX power supply
unit in 3-channel mode (R, G, B) power up your whole installation as described below:

5 - Getting started
5.1 Standby mode:
Your PILOT TOUCH is ready to go as soon as it is connected to a 12V DC or 24V DC power supply unit.
The standby button lights up.
Standard mode:
Pressing the STANDBY button for 2 seconds will allow your PILOT TOUCH to switch from standby mode
to ON and conversely.
Fast ON mode:
Simultaneously press the STANDBY and P buttons for 10 seconds, all LEDs will flash to confirm the
activation of this mode.
This mode allows you to activate your PILOT TOUCH by pressing any button. Press the STANDBY
button again to activate Sleep mode.
Delayed ON/OFF mode:
Press the STANDBY button for 5 seconds, all LEDs will flash to confirm the activation of this mode.
Press one of the buttons listed below to set the delay time:

5.2 Program mode:
Press P button to enter Program mode. Select one of the 10 programs by using the ring. Each beep
indicates a different program.
5.3 Brightness Mode:
Press B button to activate the dimmer. Use the ring to adjust the intensity. Turn clockwise to increase,
while turning counterclockwise decreases. Intensity settings from 0 to 255. Your PILOT TOUCH will stop
beeping once you reached the minimum or maximum settings.
5.4 Speed Mode:
Press S button to activate programs Speed mode. Use the ring to adjust the speed. Turn clockwise to
increase, while turning counterclockwise decreases speed.
Your PILOT TOUCH will stop beeping once you reached 10 minutes. You will then be able to select the
speed via buttons listed below:

5.5 Colour mode:
Press C to activate Colour mode. Use the ring to modify colour settings.
You can save up to 4 colours which will then be accessible via the 1 to 4 buttons.
To do so, press one of the 1 to 4 buttons during 2 seconds after having selected your colour via the ring.
All LEDs will flash to confirm your choice.

5.6 Using colours via buttons 1 to 4:
Press C button to enter Colour mode. Choose one of the 4 user colours via the 1 to 4 buttons.
5.7 Delayed colour changes:
Press C button for 5 seconds. All LEDs will flash to confirm the activation of this mode.
Press one of the buttons listed below to set the delay time:

5.8 Saving programs via buttons 1 to 4:
Press P button to enter Program mode. Use the ring to select a program.
You can save up to 4 programs which will then be accessible via buttons 1 to 4.
To do so, press one of the 1 to 4 buttons during 2 seconds after having selected your program via the
ring.
All LEDs will flash to confirm your choice.
5.9 Launching programs via buttons 1 to 4:
Press P button to enter Colour mode. Choose one of the 4 user programs via the 1 to 4 buttons.
5.10 Blocking the program saving function:
You can block the program saving function via buttons 1 to 4.
To do so, simultaneously press S and P buttons for 10 seconds.
All LEDs will flash to confirm your choice.
Buttons 1 to 4 will then allow you to launch programs, but you will not be able to save programs anymore.
Press again S and P buttons for 10 seconds to deactivate this protection.
All LEDs will flash again to confirm your choice.
5.11 Ring clicking noise:
The ring clicking noise can be deactivated. To do so, simultaneously press and hold buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4.
All LEDs will flash to confirm your choice.
When this noise is activated, only maximum and minimum values are indicated by a click.
When deactivated, maximum and minimum values are indicated by short LED flashes.
5.12 Resetting to factory settings:
Simultaneously press P and B buttons for 10 seconds to reset your device to factory settings.
All LEDs will flash to confirm your choice.
Delays are set to 2 seconds by default.
All user programs will be replaced by factory programs.

6 - Technical description
• Touch-sensitive buttons:

• DMX Assignation:
Your PILOT TOUCH uses 3 channels (Red, Green, Blue), repeating them up to channel 512.
- DMX Channel 1 (red) also affects channel 4, 7, 10, 13 ... up to channel 510.
- DMX Channel 1 (green) also affects channel 5, 8, 11, 14 ... up to channel 511.
- DMX Channel 1 (blue) also affects channel 6, 9, 12, 15 ... up to channel 512.
THERE IS NO DIFFERENT DMX ASSIGNATION POSSIBLE.
• Power output:
Your PILOT TOUCH can be used as power controller with some RGB projectors.
It is compatible with any projector featuring an internal driver (such as the COLORTAPE).
The maximum power depends on the power supply unit connected to your PILOT TOUCH.
For instance, you can connect up to 5 m of COLORTAPE ribbons to your PILOT TOUCH when using the
POW242 unit.
DO NOT CONNECT ANY OTHER KIND OF PROJECTORS TO THE PWM OUTPUT
