Program and Display Output B (40 A unit only) 20 A flashing light 2 barriers, 2 bells Diagnostic port Echelon interface to data logger Inputs from tracks, barrier detection etc Benefits “One box” control solution eliminates relays, wire and time Direct constant-voltage drive suits any flashing light Works with most track circuits and predictors Direct drive to 2- and 4-quadrant barrier control circuits Selectable inbuilt logic suits most applications User control of flash rate, gate times, bell etc Now you can roll out crossings faster, more cheaply, more consistently and more flexibly with a single customisable controller. The SSCC III Plus directly interfaces with flashing lights, barriers, bells and track circuits — and YOU retain control over all the settings. Standard or Customisable Control Logic The SSCC III Plus incorporates all the control logic and time delays that used to be implemented in costly relay circuits. Select standard logic for single, double or triple track operation, using track circuits or predictors, with or without barriers. Programmable loss-of-shunt timers Datasheet 9A-6 Datasheet 9A-6 issue 6.0 Description Simple Configuration Brief Specifications Everything plug-couples to a single enclosure. All parameters are easily set using pushbuttons and an LCD screen, and are protected against unauthorised change using passwords. Alternatively, settings can be uploaded to or downloaded from a computer. Size 483 × 222 × 105 mm Supply 9–16.5 Vdc 1.0 Vpp max ripple 0.75 A quiescent (20 A) 0.95 A quiescent (40 A) Maintenance Temp –40°C to +70°C The SSCC III Plus needs an external battery supply, track circuits (typically 2 approach and one island) and, of course, the lights, bells and barriers that it drives. The SSCC III Plus logically combines the 7 available inputs to determine when the crossing should be activated. Internal crossing flashers with 20 A or 40 A output capacity use independent circuits for each side — no single failure can cause all lights to be out. Inbuilt Logic Eliminate all relays using the logic functions within the SSCC III Plus — standard or customisable logic within the unit executes all logic and timing functions traditionally implemented with relays and wiring. Logic available as standard: • directional stick circuits • second train coming • vital stick cancellation • loss of shunt • gate delay Elimination of relays and wiring is a major cost saving. Optional features include: • traffic light pre-emption • test facility to assist with sighting lamps • interconnection to adjacent crossings • Logs the last 8 train moves • Retains settings for 2 days without power • Complete logging via SEAR • Healthy State light connections Optional Surge Panels • All surge arrestors and equalisers • Divides circuits for near and far lamps and barriers Input 7 programmable 12 Vdc in nominal On 7.6–20.0 Vdc Off 2.5–0 Vdc Configurable loss-ofshunt timer Outputs Flashing • Cable voltage drop compensation resistors for near lamps • Protection and reticulation of Battery and Common See also: • Datasheet 9A-3 — LED flashing lights • Datasheet 9B-9 — S-60 barriers • Datasheet 9G-2 — Grade Crossing Predictors 2 or 4 gate control 10 Adc for 10 s & 6 Adc continuous 12 Vdc nominal Gate Delay 3–20 s programmable Gate Bell Ordering Please discuss your requirements with our sales staff, including: • 2 or 4 gates • 20 A or 40 A flasher drive • surge panels 20 A or 40 A 30–70 fpm adjustable 9.0–15.0 Vrms adjustable Integral short circuit protection Battery voltage Configurable off on gate rise Maintenance (healthy state) Sink up to 4 A at 12 V Maintenance Interface Levels RS232-C DCE Used with laptop or palmtop computer to review logs and program controller Works with Almost Any Train Detection Almost any track circuit can be used with the SSCC III Plus: GCP, PSO-II, ac/dc (WESTRACK), dc track and more. Those that provide a 12 V output for deenergised track don’t even need a track relay.
