For a complete list of all acceptable English language qualifications and detailed information of higher requirements, please see: n n n www.lboro.ac.uk/international/englang/ GCSE/IGCSE English as a First Language – grade C or above IELTS (academic test) – 6.5 overall, with 6.0 in each sub-test Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE) – 62 overall with no less than 55 in each sub-test. INTENSIVE PRE-SESSIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TUITION International students who do not meet the English language requirements may be permitted to attend an English language pre-sessional course as an alternative way to satisfy the requirements. For the 2015/16 academic year, students will study their pre-sessional courses at the Loughborough University campus in Leicestershire, before transferring to London for their degree programmes. This will give you an induction to studying in the UK, access to first-rate English language tuition and professional support and guidance. There will be opportunities as part of the Cultural and Social Support Programme to visit London at the weekends, so you will become familiar with the exciting lifestyle on offer at the Olympic Park. The course you should enter will depend on your current standard of English language, and the programme you have applied for. n n n n n Course A (30 weeks): 12 January – 18 September Course B (20 weeks): 23 March – 18 September Course C (10 weeks): 8 July - 18 September Course D (5 weeks): 12 August – 18 September Course E (2 weeks): 7 September - 18 September The combination of IELTS/PTE scores and their acceptability for pre-sessional English language tuition can be found on our website: www.lboro.ac.uk/international/englang/pgt If you attend the Pre-sessional Course A (30 week course) or B (20 week course) you will be required to take an IELTS test in May or June, and you must meet a minimum standard to be permitted to continue with your English language studies on Presessional Course C. You will be assessed by tests and coursework at the end of Pre-sessional Courses C and D, and if you do not meet the acceptable standard you may be required to attend extra English language classes during the rest of the academic year. If you fail to engage appropriately with the Presessional course you will not be considered to have successfully completed the pre-sessional course and therefore will not have met the conditions of your offer from the University. If the level of your English language is considered to be below the minimum level required by the UK Home Office for a student visa, you will not be permitted to progress on to your degree.
