2015 IAEI Southwestern Section Meeting Sparks, NV www.iaeisw.com Page 1 Page 2 Welcome to the Ninety-Second Annual Business Meeting of the IAEI Southwestern Section As your IAEI Southwestern Section President, I would like to welcome you to Sparks, Nevada for our 92nd Annual Business Meeting and Code Seminars. Although we are very familiar with the hospitality provided by the John Ascuaga’s Nugget Hotel, this year’s seminar will be very different from last year. A special thanks to the host committee for all the hard work with providing back-to-back meetings. I also want to welcome and thank our International President Don Offerdahl and CEO/Executive Director Dave Clements for joining us this week. Our Education committee under the leadership of Lanny McMahill has planned a unique program. The topics covered will include Ambulatory Health Care Centers, Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure, Generators Fire pumps and Witness testing, Renewable Energy and Fire Fighter Safety, NFPA 70E and Electrical Essentials Parts 1, 2 and 3. The Electrical Essentials seminar is designed to provide a strong foundation of electrical knowledge for engineers, electricians and inspectors whose work requires using the National Electrical Code® (NEC®) to locate, interpret, and apply requirements for electrical systems. This course will use a mixed-use building example to illustrate basic electrical theory; NEC general requirements found in Chapters 1 through 3, basic plan reading, and fault current calculations. The class is based on the 2014 NEC. Partners, we have not forgotten you! Reno will again be hosting their annual rib cookoff so if you did not get opportunity to sample all the world flavors and enjoy the festive activates you have a second chance. The host committee has been working all year to provide fun activities. As you network with old friends, be sure to reach out to our “first timers” as they are our future. Show them that “Southwest Hospitality”. Take time to visit and thank our Industry Partners for participating with our meeting and sharing the latest technology and products. They are a great source of knowledge and safety information. On behalf of the Southwestern Section Officers and Board of Directors, I welcome you and hope that your experience will be enjoyable. I would like to thank each of you for attending our conference and bringing your expertise to our gathering. You, as IAEI members, have the vision, the knowledge, the wherewithal and the experience to help us pave our way into the future. You are truly our greatest asset today and tomorrow, and we could not accomplish what we do without your support. M.
