High Power Resistors
LBR – Resistive Load Bank Solutions
Tyco Electronics range of High Power Resistor Banks are specifically designed to meet the needs of our
customers when faced with having to dissipate High Power. Resistive banks are used as load banks in the
testing of power generation equipment, such as industrial drives or electrical generators. They can also be as
resistors for braking/chopping applications. The Resistor Bank unit dissipates the regenerative energy produced
in the process of decelerating a motor. The energy generated by the electrical motor flows on to the DC Bus,
causing an increased voltage, a braking transistor is typically used to switch the flow of energy through the
resistor. These resistor banks then convert that energy into heat, providing electrical braking. This enables
the mechanical system to be stopped effectively and in a controlled way.
Offered in a wide range of package styles, including IP sealing and in a variety of resistive configurations,
Tyco Electronics Resistor banks are the result of over 40 year’s attention to Power Dissipation, Pulse Energy
Absorption and Resistive Technology Developments.
High Power Resistor Banks are used in a wide variety of applications, such as, testing of engine generator sets,
Periodic exercising of stand-by engine generator sets, Battery system testing, Ground power testing, Load
optimization in prime power applications, Factory testing of turbines…
