POLS VO3 Intro to Political Science
This learning community will provide students an opportunity to: • Explore the ethics of globalization • Explore the wisdom of indigenous cultures • Develop a cohort among peers • Learn in an environment of collaboration • Complete two courses that fulfill GE requirements1 Numerous studies reveal learning communities contribute to higher retention rates and greater success among student populations, especially among freshmen populations 2 To enroll in this unique learning experience, students must enroll in BOTH: • CRN 79122 ANTH V02 Tues/Thurs 12:30-­‐1:45 PM in MCE 226 • CRN 70724 POLS V03 Tues/Thurs 2:00-­‐3:15 PM in MCE 226 For more information contact: Robert Porter at rporter@vcccd.edu or Maria Teresa (Gigi) Fiumerodo at mtfiumerodo@vcccd.edu 1
Both courses fulfill Social and Behavioral Science requirements on the IGETC; POLS V03 fulfills the CSU requirement for History/Constitution/American Ideals; ANTH V02 fulfills the CSU Lifelong learning requirement and the Ethnic/Women’s Studies requirement for the AA/AS degree at Ventura College. 2
