Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce • • • This qualification is designed with generic mandatory units, plus mandatory units for a specific work role pathway; Early Learning and Childcare, Children’s Social Care or Learning Development Support Services (LDSS); plus a selection of units from a bank of Optional units. The qualification is made up of a number of units, each of which carries a credit value. The total number of credits required for this qualification is 65. The flexible nature of this qualification means that training can be delivered in unit-sized chunks, providing a flexible approach to learning and achievement. Target audience The recognition of this qualification in relation to the Children and Young People’s Workforce is applicable in England only. This qualification is suitable for those who work within the children and young people’s workforce. The qualification is open to learners from the age of 16 onwards, of either gender and there are no entry barriers on grounds of race, creed or previous academic attainment or learning. The units of this qualification describe the level and breadth of performance expected of anyone working in this area. Each individual unit that comprises the qualification has been assigned a level and credit value, making individual units worthwhile learning in their own right. Assessment The OCR Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce is a competence based qualification. This means that it is linked to a learner’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Both publications are available to download from our website www.ocr.org.uk Qualification Structure Certification OCR Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce Learners can gain both unit and full qualification certificates. The full qualification certificate will detail the qualification title and the QCA accreditation information. The unit certificate will also detail the credit value of the unit achieved. To achieve this qualification, learners must achieve a total of 65 credits made up from the eleven mandatory units (Group A), plus one mandatory pathway (one from a choice of Group B, C or D), plus a selection of optional units (Group E).
