Our plants perform three main functions:
Filtration
The presence of solid impurities reduces the oil's
dielectric strength and clogs the equipment
components. In our machines are two different
systems to achieve the manufacturer's
requirements: the mesh filter removes larger
impurities and then, thanks to special filters for
insulating oil, 1, 3 and 5 microns levels are
reached.
In order not to interrupt the process if it is
necessary to change the cartridge, it is possible
to install two filters in parallel. In addition, this
configuration allows to operate with two
filtration levels according to oil's condition.
Heating
Due to the fact that water's dissolution in
insulating oil depends on the temperature, it is
important to have oil as hot as possible so that it
can absorb the maximum amount of water
placed inside the cardboard and paper.
With electric heaters and control loop, the
heater can increase oil temperature 30°C every
cycle. The electrical resistors have a large
surface, so that heat transfer is limited to
2W/cm2.
Security against overheating the oil is ensured by
four separate devices that control different
variables such as: temperature, pressure and
flow. It is important no to exceed 80°C, which is
the maximum temperature recommended by
the main insulating oil producers.

the degassing under vacuum. To ensure the
succeed of process, it incorporates a distributor
and a random packing that ensures an optimal
spread having the largest area exposed to
vacuum.
5.
6.
7.
Once oil leaves the packing section, it is
collected at the bottom of the column to return
back to the transformer thanks to the oil pump.
The column features an illuminated observation
glass, a control system for liquid level and a
control system of foam. Optionally, you can
incorporate a Henrymeter.

Vacuum Insulating Oil Treatment Plants
For more than 30 years, TELSTAR has manufactured and distributed vacuum insulating oil treatment plants all over the

Our plants perform three main functions:
Filtration
The presence of solid impurities reduces the oil's
dielectric strength and clogs the equipment
components. In our machines are two different
systems to achieve the manufacturer's
requirements: the mesh filter removes larger
impurities and then, thanks to special filters for
insulating oil, 1, 3 and 5 microns levels are
reached.
In order not to interrupt the process if it is
necessary to change the cartridge, it is possible
to install two filters in parallel. In addition, this
configuration allows to operate with two
filtration levels according to oil's condition.
Heating
Due to the fact that water's dissolution in
insulating oil depends on the temperature, it is
important to have oil as hot as possible so that it
can absorb the maximum amount of water
placed inside the cardboard and paper.
With electric heaters and control loop, the
heater can increase oil temperature 30°C every
cycle. The electrical resistors have a large
surface, so that heat transfer is limited to
2W/cm2.
Security against overheating the oil is ensured by
four separate devices that control different
variables such as: temperature, pressure and
flow. It is important no to exceed 80°C, which is
the maximum temperature recommended by
the main insulating oil producers.

Degassing Column
The column does the most important process:
the degassing under vacuum. To ensure the
succeed of process, it incorporates a distributor
and a random packing that ensures an optimal
spread having the largest area exposed to
vacuum.
5.
6.
7.
Once oil leaves the packing section, it is
collected at the bottom of the column to return
back to the transformer thanks to the oil pump.
The column features an illuminated observation
glass, a control system for liquid level and a
control system of foam. Optionally, you can
incorporate a Henrymeter.
Treated oil characteristics
The obtainable oil quality coming out of a Telstar unit is as follows:1
Water content
Gas content
Vacuum inside column
After one cycle
< 10 ppm
< 0,5%
< 10 mbar
After three cycles
< 5 ppm
< 0,2%
< 0,8 mbar

In event of adding a roots pump, the obtainable oil quality will be:
Water content
Gas content
Vacuum inside column
After one cycle
< 5 ppm
< 0,2%
< 2 mbar
1. Provided that oil does not exceed 50 ppm and 12% gas content at entry.
After three cycles
< 3 ppm
< 0,1%
< 0,8 mbar
