General information
‰Edible
refined vegetable oils.
- Refined palm oil. Palm Oil is derived from the fleshy mesocarp of the fruit of the oil palm
(Elaeis guineensis) and included edible red palm oil and edible bleached palm oil.
- Refined rape seed oil.
- Refined Soyabean oil.
- Refined sunflower oil.
‰Oil
should always be bought in liters. One kg of oil makes different quantities as each oil has its
own specific weight, and always make more than 1 liter (Palm oil 890g/l, Soyabean oil 920g/l,
Rape seed oil 912g/l, Sunflower oil 922g/l, at 20°C).
‰One
must pay lots of attention to the packaging. Oil is the product where we face most leakage
problems.

vary with national regulations. Here below, we give our most commonly used
specifications.
- Refer to HQ when offered specifications are different from our standard specifications. It will
need to be approved by a food specialist.
‰Importation
of food is always subject to acceptance from the national authorities, based on their
national specifications, check these specifications before purchasing.

Specifications
For all aspects of the product, unless described otherwise here below, the standard of Codex
Alimentarius last edition applies, including the packaging.
- Product must be fit for human consumption and be of sound, fair and marketable quality.
- The Cartagena Protocol (Biosafety Protocol, additional to the Convention of Biodiversity) requires
that exporters/producers indicate whether the food items may contain GMOs (Genetically modified
organisms) or not.
Date of best before: Minimum 1 year at date of delivery.

Primary packaging
In food grade PET (Polyethylene terephtalate) (or metal) bottles, hermetically sealed, of 1l, or 3l, or 5l
according to the order.
Bottles to have caps with tamper proof devices. Weight of empty 1lt plastic bottles: 28.5g minimum.
Supply in tin without cap (to open by piercing) not accepted.
Impermeability: No leakage under the pressure of 6 m high stacking.
Impact tests to be carried out on multiple packs ready for supply.
Secondary packaging
The one litre PET bottles of oil to be packed in cartons containing 12 x 1L or 15 x 1 l bottles.
The carton of double corrugation, export quality, to withstand stacking 6m high for 6 month without
deterioration.
The sealing of the outer box is with glue or 50mm tape, capable of resisting a tropical climate
(humidity and sunshine) for six month. Tape overlaps of 10cm minimum.
Containers are to be filled without pallets as follow
Boxes are to be laid flat
Double wall corrugated board inserts are to be placed between the third and fourth layer covering the
surface over the width of the container and covering at least two boxes lengthwise.
The inserts are not to overlap
Any free space at the sides and at the ends is to be filled with "AD HOC" material to ensure that the
cartons are completely immobilized in the container.
