Crane Skips
Distinctively painted in red, Marwood’s crane skips
have been used nationwide for many years and remain
one of our best lines. Our skips are continually refined
to meet the most demanding circumstances and are
supplied complete with a test certificate.
1 • Geared Cone Flow Skip // General purpose
crane skip with small shutter opening and low loading
height. When in use, the skip will hang at an angle
of between 30-40 degrees. This offset can be useful
when pouring in areas with difficult access. Fitted
with a geared shutter and two operating wheels for a
controlled pour.

2 • Geared Rollover Skip // Initially designed for
pouring walls but can be used in any situation where
the skip access needs to be tight to scaffold. Can also
be used for many general applications, particularly
when low loading aperture is required. Fitted with
a geared shutter and twin operating wheels for
controlled discharge.

3 • Column Skip // Designed to allow concrete to
be poured into columns or shuttering with narrow
or difficult access and discharged at low level,
reducing the risk of aggregate separation. Concrete
is discharged through a shutter into a fitted hopper
on which the outlet terminates as a 200mm diameter
tube. There is provision to allow the fitting of a flexible
heavy duty rubber tube. The design allows the operator
to control the flow of materials from ground level by a
rope connected to the shutter handle.

5 • Twin Flow Skip // A versatile general purpose
crane skip which can be used for bottom discharge
applications, or by lowering the attached chute can be
used as a side discharge skip.

6 • Circular Muck Skip - Self Tipping (New Product) //
The safer option to the standard muck tipping skip used
for muck removal or general site rubbish clearance.
With a specially designed locking system, this removes
the requirement for any third party participation when
emptying the skip.

7 • Muck Skip // Normally used for muck removal or
general site rubbish clearance. Once the bale support
fingers are disengaged,the skip then becomes self
tipping. All Muck Tipping Crane Skips are fitted with

8 • Boat Skip // Used for general site clearance or
muck removal. The main advantage of this type of skip
is the comparatively low loading height compared with
a conventional muck skip. The lifting bale automatically
locks when lifted, this enables the crane driver to
manoeuvre and tip the skip without the need for a
second operator. Bale support fingers are only engaged
when the bale is disconnected from the crane.

Roads
Temporary roads are used to provide access for
both rubber tyred and tracked vehicles to areas
with difficult ground conditions. They are also
used to reduce axle weight pressures and reduce
the risk of damage where access is required over
underground services.
1 • TrakMats® // A ground cover mat solution for
accessing construction sites with rubber-tyred vehicles
up to 80 tonnes. Flexible and robust, TrakMats® are
the world’s leading engineered ground cover mat
for moving vehicles, operated equipment and site
personnel over soft or sensitive ground and flooring.
Their grip/surface profiles are designed to dispel mud
whilst vehicles traverse giving a non-slip traction to
the vehicle.
- Easy fit connectors
- In-built hand holds for easy lifting
- Non-slip traction cylinders on one or both sides
- Tough 1.27cm thick recycled polyethylene
2 • Ekki Mats/Pipeline Mats // Suitable for rubber
tyred vehicles and should be laid to form a single track
of either three or five metre width. As a guide only,
these mats may be used to support evenly distributed
weights of up to 21 tonnes for 3 metres and 35 tonnes
for 5 metres depending on ground conditions on site.
The client must be satisfied as to the suitability of the
mats for the application intended. Due to their density,
Ekki Mats/Pipeline Mats do not float and are therefore
suitable if required for use in a tidal situation.

Crane Mats
Excavator / Crane Mats are used to provide
access for both rubber tyred and tracked vehicles
to areas with difficult ground conditions. They
are also used to reduce axle weight pressures
and reduce the risk of damage where access is
required over underground services.
1 • Excavator Crane Mats- Heavy Duty // These
mats are suitable for most types of rubber-tyred or
tracked vehicles and as a guide only,they may be used
to support evenly distributed weights of up to several
hundred tonnes dependant on ground conditions.

distributed loads of up to 60 tonne dependant on

3 • Sleepers // All sleepers are of sound quality for
various uses within the construction industry. They
are creosoted and must be handled with gloves.
Standard railway sleepers are approx 2500/2600mm x
225/250mm x 125/150mm. For customers wishing to
purchase, we can supply either used pine softwood,
which has been creosoted, or new hardwood sleepers
(subject to availability). We also offer a cutting service
if required.
Safety Tip: The use of gloves to handle creosoted
sleepers is essential to avoid skin contact.
