KVO Exhibit Bases
Product Guide
NPS exhibit bases were used for years as the standard for the National Park
Service. Although a new standard has been recently adopted, these handsome exhibit bases still stand the test of time. This system works great in any
environment for a wide range of applications including wayfinding, information, orientation and interpretive signage.
This system incorporates the use of aluminum extrusions that form the
frame for the graphics panel, aluminum plate for support and a variety of
aluminum tube sizes for the legs. The signs are shipped disassembled (for
ease of shipping and to keep costs to a minimum) with all necessary
hardware and complete instructions for installation.
The graphic panel is typically 1/8” Digital High Pressure Laminate (DHPL) or
Vitratek Porcelain Enamel, although virtually any sign material can be used
in thicknesses ranging from flat to 5/32”.
Although the NPS system is designed around a number of standard sizes,
custom sizes are also available for an additional fee on a per job basis.

KVO Exhibit Bases General Specs
KVO’s NPS Exhibit Bases are constructed from durable aluminum and
comes with a standard polyurethane textured paint finish in 4 standard
colors (see chart below). For an additional fee, an optional powder coat
finish is also available. The powder coat finish comes in 15 standard colors
(see chart below).
This system incorporates the use of aluminum extrusions that form the
frame for the graphics panel, aluminum plate for support and a variety of
aluminum tube sizes for the legs. There is a removeable angle on one side of
the frame (usually at the top) which allows for insertion of the graphic panel.
The angle is then attached with drive rivets, securing the graphics panel in
position. The frame is then attached to the legs (when applicable) with
another set of tamper-proof drive rivets.

The NPS system is designed around a number of standard sizes, although
custom sizes and custom fabrication can be accommodated. Please contact
KVO for pricing for standard or custom bases as there are a number of
factors that dictate final cost such as style, material, finish, size and quantity.
KVO Exhibit Bases are warranted for a period of one year from the date of
delivery against defects in materials and workmanship. Note: You must have
a written warranty from KVO Industries for your specific project before any
claims can be honored.

1/4” Flat Head Tamper-Proof Drive Rivet
Used to attach removeable angle to the frame,
securing graphic panel in position.

1/8” DHPL or Vitratek Porcelain Enamel are KVO’s
standard options for our NPS system but any sign
material can be used.
Legs
3/16” wall aluminum tube in a variety of sizes
depending on the model.
“F” Channel Extrusion:
The F-Channel extrusion is welded into a frame
which creates a channel for the graphic panel to
slide into.
Backing Plate:
3/16” aluminum plate is welded to the F-Channel
frame to provide support for the graphic panel.
3/8” Button Head Tamper-Proof Drive Rivet
Used to attach the frame to the legs (for
applicable models).
Mounting Options:
The standard mounting option is for in-ground
installation. Detailed installation drawings are
included with all orders.

KVO Exhibit Bases are identified by several simple designations: For demonstration purposes we’ll use the following ID number:
3624 NPS TRAD/rail mount
3624 - for our NPS system, this number represents the exhibit (graphic
panel) dimensions, width x height
NPS - represents the sign system (in this case National Park Service)
TRAD - represents the style (in this case Traditional)
rail mount - anything after a forward slash represents an optional feature

KVO Exhibit Bases Mounting Options
Surface Mount
(additional detail on page 29)
Sled Mount
This option works well for situations
where the exhibit needs to move to
various locations.
A clean and simple solution for
mounting any of our standard bases
to virtually any surface. The
mounting plate attaches to the
surface with standard hardware. The
cover then mounts with small
security screws over the plate to
conceal the hardware.
Sleeve Mount
In certain situations, the exhibit
base may need to be removed from
time to time. With the addition of
simple sleeves, this can easily be
accomplished.
Double Sided
Rail Mount
With simple modifications, KVO
Exhibit Bases can mount to most
railings. The version in this
illustration utilizes our surface
mount option although numerous
custom installation ideas are
possible.

Wall Mount
With simple brackets, our
standard frame and bulletin units
can easily mount to any wall with
the appropriate hardware.
The Single Upright (SUPR) and
Double Upright (DUPR) exhibit
bases in our NPS series can be
easily converted to create doublesided signs, perfect for information
and wayfinding systems that can be
viewed from either side.

KVO Exhibit Bases Surface Mount Detail
The most popular mounting option for our NPS Exhibit Bases is the surface
mount. The advantage of the surface mount option over the standard
in-ground method is the ability to remove the exhibit base for maintenance
or to move to a different location.
This option include a base plate welded to the leg(s) with a cover that
attaches to the base plate with security screws. The cover neatly conceals the
mounting hardware and provides additional security.
Please note: Although KVO Industries does not typically provide the
hardware for attaching the base plate to the concrete or deck surface,
concrete anchors and / or lag bolts are available upon request.
