sorter from Oliver Manufacturing and ASM.
Standard sorting equipment is essential for separating products based on
size or shape, but that’s often not enough. Vision color sorters instantly
detect and remove visibly imperfect units which would otherwise go into
your final package mix. Oliver / ASM Vision equipment automatically rejects
unwanted materials such as discolored or blighted seeds, nut hulls, ergot, deformed beans, foreign
matter and much more.

INNOVATIVE OPTICAL TECHNOLOGY
EASY TO USE, HARD TO RESIST
Vision color sorters combine highly sensitive
cameras with unique software and accurate air
ejectors. That enables the Vision system to identify
any defective product (based on your specific
parameters) and immediately reject it.
When programmed to recognize the exact
physical appearance and properties of your ideal
products, Vision knows to eject any that don’t
meet your standards.
Vision separators use the revolutionary Blob
Analysis scanning process. It starts with a distinct,
pre-programmed set of physical descriptors, also
called your “recipe,” which classifies products by
criteria such as color, brightness, tint, reflectivity, etc.
When material from the chute passes through
the viewing area, optic sensors scan and digitally
analyze it up to five times. If the cameras detect
any blobs on the products — variances in the
visual images which don’t match your defined
parameters — the system automatically selects
from 72 air jets per chute to reject dissimilar pieces
from your product flow. The whole process happens
within eight milliseconds without any interruption.
The program can then be fine-tuned with different
prescribed parameters for other products to be
viewed and sorted. A user-friendly touch-screen
interface simplifies every necessary function,
including auto-level adjustment, self-checking
and even remote management. Vision sorters
let you enter and save as many as 99 different
product “recipes.”
There are five different Vision sorters
in the Oliver / ASM line, featuring either
monochromatic, bi-chromatic, infrared or near
infrared optics, depending on the complexity of
your sorting requirements. Vision sorters also have
LED lighting, which is preferable to fluorescent
scanners for intensity of illumination, consistency
and ease of maintenance.
Other advantages include easy-to-change cleaning
brushes and optional channeled chutes.

A Vision color sorter helps to improve throughput,
because larger feeding chutes increase capacity
by enabling you to sort more products on the
same machine. Chutes are also matched to specific
products to support the most effective separation.

collect “rebound” product instead of rejecting it.
Feeding the “good” rebound material back into the
input decreases unnecessary waste.
