OPERATION
Before make any measurements always examine thé instrument and
accessories. There are some common applications for your meter, and
alert you to some considérations to keep in mind when taking measurement.
Voltage Measurements (AC or DC)
Warning: - To avoid electric shock, do not exceed thé maximum input
limit lOOOVdc or 750Vac.
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé required position.
2. Insert thé black test lead to "COM" terminal and red test lead to
"V£î" input terminal.
3. Connect thé black test lead then red test lead to measuring points
and read thé display value.
14
Current Measurements
Warning: - To avoid damage, do not attempt any in-circuit current measurement where thé potential is greater then 600V(250V at 351).
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé required position.
2. Insert thé black test lead to "COM" terminal and red test lead to
"mA juA" input terminal. For measuring current between 200mA to 20A,
connect thé red test lead to "20A" input terminal.
3. Connect thé test lead to measuring points and read thé display value.
Résistance measurements
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé required position.
2. Insert thé black test lead to "COM" terminal and red test lead to
"VQ" input terminal.
3. Connect thé test lead to measuring points and read thé display value.
15
Diode Test
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé " ->{- " position.
2. Insert thé black test lead to "COM" terminal and red test lead to
"VÎ2" input terminal.
3. Connect thé test lead to a diode or transistor. Normally forward
forward junction voltage for slcicon diode or transistor should be
about 0.6V. Voltage greater than 3V or open test leads produce an
overload(l) reading.
Continuity Check by Buzzer
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé " •))) " position.
2. Insert thé black test lead to "COM" terminal and red test lead to
"Vfi" input terminal.
3. Connect thé test leads to thé circuit under test.
4. Buzzer sounds continously when thé under test is below approximately 40Q.
16
Battery Measurements (model 351 only)
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé required position.
2. Insert thé black test lead to "COM" terminal and red test lead to
"mA pA" input terminal.
3. Connect thé black test leads to thé battery " - " position and red
test lead to thé " + " position.
4. Therô are an approximentaly 100mA at 1.5V or 6mA at 9V battery dummy
load to get thé best test condition.
17
The following items are for 352, 353 only
Capacitance Measurements
Caution: - Discharge thé capacitor before making measurements, never
apply voltage to thé capacitance test fixture.
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé required position.
2. Discharge thé capacitor before making measurements.
3. Insert thé under test capacitors two leads into test fixture and
read thé display value.
Frequency measurements
Warning: - To avoid electric shock, do not exceed thé maximum input
limit SOOVdc or 360Vac.
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé required position.
18
2. Insert thé black test lead to "COM" terminal and red test lead to
"VQ" input terminal.
3. Connect thé black test lead then red test lead to measuring points
and read thé display value.
Transistor hFE measurements
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé required position.
2. Insert thé under test transistor leads into test fixture and read
thé display value.
Température measurements (model 353 only)
1. Place thé rotary switch at thé required position.
2. Insert thé température test lead (K type) into thé température jack.
3. Using température probe to make température measurement.
19
MAINTENANCE
Thèse instructions are for use by qualified personnel only. To avoid
electrical shock, do not perform any servicing other than that contained
in thé operating instruction, unless you are qualified to do so.
Caution: - To avoid damage, remote thé test leads and any input signal
before replacing battery or fuses.
