Welcome
TO THE 10TH ANNUAL CLEVELAND PREMIER CIO FORUM
It is our pleasure, along with our conference partners, to welcome you to the tenth annual Premier CIO Forum
in Cleveland.
With the Premier CIO Forum, attendees across the region have come to expect a dynamic agenda with relevant,
up-to-the-minute topics and exciting speakers who will share their wealth of knowledge and experience, helping you
to gain practical insights into your business challenges. The conference includes powerful keynotes, informative
breakouts, discussions with subject-matter experts, and cutting-edge solution providers.
Our partner, The Society for Information Management (SIM), is an organization intended for Senior IT Executives to
discuss and share experiences related to technology and business structure. The group’s mission is to provide an
open forum, devoid of sales and marketing solicitations, for area executives with IT decision-making responsibility to
network and share their experiences. The Premier CIO Forum adheres to all guidelines which prohibit solicitation by
anyone, except for the requested solution providers who have been hand-picked by the Executive Advisory Council of
CIOs and Senior IT Executives specific to this region.
We have worked diligently to put together a stimulating and focused agenda, bringing together experts, visionaries
and professionals from the IT industry. We look forward to sharing this exciting conference with you.
THE NORTHEAST OHIO CHAPTER OF SIM IS PROUD TO PARTNER WITH THIS EXCLUSIVE EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE.

topics that he has humbly agreed to share. He is referred to by many — including prime

exceptional in the field of strategy and execution. He currently leads a startup that is said
to be the fastest growing ever in the IT Infrastructure sector.

Discussion: Information and IT security is an all-encompassing topic. Whether it is mobile
employees or an attack from the outside, your organizations secured information is at
risk. The panel will discuss some of the major threats that could put information security
at risk. What will cloud computing law look like? What will be required for “C” levels such
as CIOs to comply with emerging threats, legal arenas and evolving regulations? How will
the “C” level prepare? These are just a few of the topics that will be discussed.

Discussion: Service relationships exist throughout the enterprise. They connect
requesters of a service and providers of those services. While service relationships are
well defined and automated within enterprise IT, they are inefficient, unstructured, or
non-existent in other enterprise service domains. Join Matt French, ServiceNow’s VP of
Strategy, as he outlines a vision for the future of IT and the role IT leaders will play in the
evolution of service. Matt will provide prospective on applying the IT service model to
automate and manage service relationships throughout the enterprise.

“LEARN WHY AN APPLICATION-CENTRIC APPROACH TO IT INFRASTRUCTURE
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT (IPM) DRIVES HIGHER PERFORMANCE AT LOWER
TOTAL COST”
Presented by: John W. Thompson, CEO, Virtual Instruments
Discussion: Today’s technology trends, including Cloud, Convergence and ‘Software
Defined’ create risks due to inherent gaps in performance management. The unintended
consequences of these converging forces is a complete lack of visibility into performance
and availability—and an incomplete understanding of the true costs involved. During
this session, John W. Thompson, Virtual Instruments CEO, and Chairman of the Board of
Directors for Microsoft Corporation will discuss the current state of the industry. He will
also share insights on how leading companies leverage IPM to acutely align application
workloads with infrastructure performance, and discuss how Virtual Instruments
customers benefit from being able to ensure that applications and infrastructure perform
better together!

were delivering value during times of “survival” for their organizations. As the economy
continues to strengthen, we believe it is important that the CIO continues to play a
key role across the entire organization and its success. Come and listen to these
outstanding leaders and hear their stories on how they have played strategic roles in their
organizations and how they helped set the stage for success in their business.

IDEAS TO THE ORGANIZATION!”
Presented by: Todd Cohen, Professional Speaker and Author of “Everyone’s in Sales”
Discussion: CIO’s and Senior IT professionals, as well as all IT professionals, must know how to
sell themselves and their ideas every day to ensure the long term viability and growth of the IT
organization. Connecting IT to the business is mandatory and it all starts with people knowing
WHAT you do and HOW it will help them achieve their goals. In this engaging and highly
interactive session, professional speaker and author of the “Everyone’s in Sales” Todd Cohen
will show us the principles of building a successful sales culture so the IT professional sees
how they contribute and more sales happen! Todd has worked with many IT organizations such
as Subaru of America, International Flavor and Fragrance and NFI Industries and has spoken

Discussion: As businesses move away from the traditional legacy systems, how do CIOs
adapt and understand the changes of cloud computing within his/her organization? They
may have a significant grasp on the technical changes, but what about the unexpected
challenges pertaining to the IT department? When cloud computing was at an escalated
hype, forecasters stated there would be a widespread layoff epidemic in the IT organization.
Rather than eliminating professional IT jobs, cloud offers a new way of retraining,
enhancing skills, and the ability to focus on value-added activities to advance their careers.
Discover how cloud computing has affected this panel line up of IT executives and the IT
structural changes in their organization.

To truly simplify IT in today’s virtualized data centers, the “data problem” must
be addressed: ensuring performance, capacity, mobility, manageability, and
protection of data without driving up CAPEX and OPEX. This requires new data
architecture—one that takes a VM-centric approach, ensures adequate IOPS to
fuel application requirements, and drives dramatic efficiency. SimpliVity’s Data
Virtualization Platform delivered in commodity x86 building blocks simplifies IT
infrastructure and operations, and uniquely enables data mobility and efficiency. SimpliVity reduces IOPS, capacity and
bandwidth requirements, and provides native data protection, eliminating the need for separate hardware and tools—
resulting in a 300% TCO savings. Visit www.simplivity.com or info@simplivity.com.
