Love is an essential part of one's life in any living condition.
Be it the love of a husband to his wife, a teacher to a student, a
mother to her daughter, a father to his son, a devotee to God love
is valuable and has got a great concern for the person loved.
Mother's love for a child is called 'affection'. Teacher's love for a
student is called 'attachment'. Husband's affection for wife is
called 'love'. A devotee's love for God is 'devotion'. Love for the
elders is called 'respect'. Love for a friend is called 'friendship'.
Love is basic for the life of a human being. It takes different
shapes in domestic, religious, social and public relationship. Love
provides a strong foundation for ethical living in any part of the
universe.
Nutritious food gives strength to one's body. Love in fact acts
as a tonic in life. Love for life and love for others enable you to
develop interest in life, self-respect and self-confidence. Your
sense of satisfaction will definitely lead you to change your
attitude towards everything positive, cheerful and constructive.
People suffer from several complexes in life. Two major
complexes are superiority complex and inferiority complex. Any
such complex prevents one from being normal and peaceful.
People who have superiority complex derive pleasure in
dominating others in any environment. Inferiority complex leads
to one's lack of self-confidence.
You may be rich or poor; your position may be high or low;
you may look beautiful or ugly; you may be educated or
uneducated; you may be intellectually superior or inferior to
others. You should remember the fact that one's appearance is one
thing and one's attitude is another.
Everybody expects others to respect him. Children expect
their parents to recognize their talents. Old people expect their
sons or daughters to take care of their needs.
You should try to bring the best from everybody and maintain
a desirable human relationship with all people.

14 Sports Day
The 14th Sports Day was celebrated at its regular rhythm on 13th
March 2014. It started with the conventional flag hosting done by the
Secretary Shri.C. Sundaramoorthi, Shri.S. Baskararajan, President of the
college presided over the function. Shri.S. Rajarathinam, Vice-president
offered felicitation. The athletes did the march past parade in a vibrant
style. Shri. Mohammed Riaz, Chairman, Selection Committee for
Tamilnadu Hockey Association graced the occassion as the Chief Guest.
In his address, he said that students should give equal importance to
sports to excel themselves in all their activities. He also insisted that all
students to play, which will in turn help them to score more marks in
education. He gave away the prizes to the students who have registered
their excellence in International, National, State, University and Zone
level sports activities. Students in large numbers enthusiasically

A spectacular Fine and Arts competitions in
the name of TECHNOFIESTA was held on
14th March 2014 under banner of Fine Arts
Club. The principal of our college presided
over the function. Dr.G.Ganasambandan,
Prof. of Tamil, Thiagarajar College,
Madurai, a famous humorist and an aesthetic
literarian was the Chief Guest of the function.
All the members of the management graced the
function by their valuable presence. The
students of all the events exhibited their latent
talents in terms of Dancing, Enacting dramas
both in Western and Folklore genres. The
Techno Fiesta Trophy and Prizes were
distributed to the winners by the Chief Guest.

university exams and co-curricular activities. Staff members were
also honoured by the way of giving cash prizes and certificates for
their outstanding academic performance during the years 2012 2013 and 2013 - 2014. The Heads of departments and the executive

events with great fun
and entertainment.
The Convocation (Calling Together) is an important occasion for an
educational institution and students. The good work of the institution is
reflected in the degrees and the awards presented. The graduation day was
conducted at our College premises on 22nd March 2014. The band-troupe
took all the dignitories to the convocation hall. Shri.C. Sundaramoorthy,
Secretary of our College presided over the function. Dr.M. Sivakumar,
Principal presented the Annual Report. Dr.Baldevraj, Former Director,
IGCAR, Kalpakkam delivered the Graduation Day address and conferred
the degrees to the graduates. In this speech he called “Convocation Day is a
day of celebration and it is a day of anticipation and optimistic
expectations for the future”. Mr.S.Baskararajan, President,
Mr.Rajarathinam, Vice-President, Dr.B. Ravibabu, Treasurer and Heads
of departments and the executive members of SSCE were also present.

It is always hard to say “Good Bye” and it was
the same to us when we bid adieu to our esteemed
management members. The Staff Club of our
College organized farewell party to our
magnanimous management on 31st March 2014.
After formal inaugural ceremony our Principal
gave a flash back in the form of slide show to our
esteemed management for their relentless work
rendered to the institution for the past three years.

members as a token of affection. The function was
ended after serving of delicious dinner.

The SSCE Girls' Hostel Day was celebrated on 12th March 2014. A warm welcome was given to
all the dignitaries. The formel function began with invoking “The Almighty”. Dr.M.Sivakumar,

Secretary and Dr.B. Ravibabau, Treasurer offered felicitation. The students who excelled in academic
and extra-curricular activities received prizes from the guests. Following this, the cultural and
entertainment programmes were conducted by the students. A sumptuous dinner was served at the
end of the function Mrs.S. Renuka, the Deputy Warden of our girls hostel executed the whole
programme in a fitting manner.
THE GREEN WOOD GATHERER (LAZINESS)
Once upon a time there was a world famous teacher and holy man in the city of Takkasila. He had 500 students
training under him.
One day these 500 young men went into the forest to gather firewood. One of them came upon a tree with no leaves.
He thought, "How lucky I am! This tree must be dead and dry, perfect for firewood. So what's the hurry? I'll take a nap
while the others are busy searching in the woods. When it's time to return, it will be easy to climb this tree and break off
branches for firewood. So what's the hurry?" He spread his jacket on the ground, lay down on it, and fell fast asleep snoring loudly.
After a while all the other students began carrying their bundles of firewood back to Takkasila. On their way they
passed the snoring sleeper. They kicked him to wake him up and said, "Wake up! Wake up! It's time to return to our
teacher."
The lazy student woke up suddenly and rubbed his eyes. Still not fully awake, he climbed up the tree. He began
breaking off branches and discovered that they were actually still green, not dry at all. While he was breaking one of
them, it snapped back and poked him in the eye. From then on he had to hold his eye with one hand while he finished
gathering his bundle of green wood. Then he carried it back to Takkasila, running to catch up. He was the last one back,
and threw his bundle on top of the rest.
Meanwhile an invitation arrived to a religious ceremony. It was to be held the next day at a remote village. The holy
man told his 500 pupils, "This will be good training for you. You will have to eat an early breakfast tomorrow morning.
Then go to the village for the religious service. When you return, bring back my share of the offerings as well as your
own."
The students awoke early the next morning. They awakened the college cook and asked her to prepare their
breakfast porridge. She went out in the dark to the woodpile. She picked up the top bundle of the lazy man's green wood.
She brought it inside and tried to start her cooking fire. But even though she blew and blew on it, she couldn't get the fire
going. The wood was too green and damp.
When the sun came up there was still no fire for cooking breakfast. The students said, "It's
getting to be too late to go to the village." So off they went to their teacher.
The teacher asked them, "Why are you still here? Why haven't you left yet?" They told him,
"A lazy good-for-nothing slept while we all worked. He climbed a tree and poked himself in the
eye. He gathered only green wood and threw it on top of the woodpile. This was picked up by the
college cook. Because it was green and damp, she couldn't get the breakfast fire started. And now
it's too late to go to the village."
The world famous teacher said, "A fool who is lazy causes trouble for everyone. When what
should be done early is put off until later, it is soon regretted.”
The moral is: “Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”

WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

Women's Day was celebrated in a fitting manner on 12 March 2014. Dr.B. Ravibabu, Treasurer,
presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. In the morning session, Dr. Padma
Srinivasan, Former Reader, Department of English and comparative Literature, Madurai Kamaraj
University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the women's day address. Dr.
Hemalatha Gudiseva an Ophthalmologist, Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai was the yet another guest of
honour in the programme. Mrs.S. Bhuvaneswari, the coordinator of Women Empowerment Cell
executed the whole programme in a fine manner.

during 26 - 28 March 2014 for all the Final year
students. The function was celebrated with
emotions and reminiscences of earlier
experiences during their course of study. The staff
handled classes and students shared their views
for the development and growth of the individual
department and the College as well. All the staff
members were honoured with mementoes.
