Housing
1. Plaster Frame - 0.040 steel frame with integral bar hanger brackets.
2. Housing - 0.035 white baked enamel one-piece drawn steel. Adjustable for ceiling
thickness up to 1-1/4". NL-401QAT complies with WSEC airflow restriction of 2CFM (Cubic
Feet per Minute) or less.
3. Mounting - Two 13-5/8” to 24" bar hangers are included and can be repositioned 90
degrees for installation. Ends of bar hangers contain 3/4" (20mm) barbed studs and nails for
securing bar hanger into the side of a wood joist without damaging the wood grain. Knockouts
on plaster frame allow for direct suspension from a structural ceiling with aircraft structural
wire cable.

Clearance
Non-IC Housings require a minimum clearance of 3" around from thermal insulation and 1/2"
from combustible material from above the fixture.

Electrical System
1. Transformer – Magnetic Class H transformer, 12V output installed onto J-box. Also
available in electronic specify /1EL for 120V, or /2EL for 277V.
2. Wiring - Standard metal flex whip carries wire lead from j-box and transformer into
housing. Wire lead extends a maximum of 1-3/4" outside fixture and terminates at MR16
socket with heat shield.
3. Junction Box - Integrated 22 cubic inch junction box 0.060 galvanized steel with three
1/2" knockouts, two 3/4" knockouts, and four Romex pryouts. Green wire provided for
installations with ground wire fed through PVC pipe conduit.

Full assortment of decorative reflectors, glass, gimbal rings, and other styles for aesthetic, low
profile ceiling finish. Includes tempered clear glass lens and foam gasket. Three tension
spring clips riveted to trim ring secure trim to housing. White ring is standard.

UL Listed for through-branch wiring with up to four #12 AWG conductors.
